Mr. Larson was kind enough to make me a flipping stick. I decided not to post this until I had time to use it. My reason for that was to let y'all know if the power lays in the stick! First I'll show off the stick which I named by the way. Larson! Pretty creative name for my stick, huh... Larson the stick led me to some pretty nice stuff. Especially considering a tractor had been through there this morning. Take a look!

The last pic is a point and a base that were right with each other. I don't know if they belong together or not . I think so, but their is a missing link as can be seen. Mr. Larson, thank you for the stick and the artifacts you sent me, and for the ones that I will find with the stick! Looks like the stick knows what to do!

I also found this large quartz today. It was too big to flip with the stick and really does not belong in the native American section. I figured that any one that collects artifacts would respect it though. It may have been used as a hammer at some point because the tip is beat up and does not look like a tractor did the damage. Who knows , it's still pretty!

It may sound kinda weird but I use a shovel, I use it for stability going down banks, sometimes to dig stairways in steep embankments to get back out & to check rocks compared to leaves in the water (lol) & in the winter when the rocks/soil gets frozen.

hey if a shovel works that is cool
it is different ground that we hunt
just a flat dirty old field

here are two sticks i just made for russy and me, also made one more for caroline
these are the first group that is made of Honduran Mahogany
the thin black strip under the handles are made from Macassar Ebony from Celebes (by Borneo)
the outside of the handle is Kingwood (from Brazil)
here are some images from yesterday when we took them out two break them inIMG_1714.jpgIMG_1717.jpgIMG_1718.jpg
in a few minutes we scored a small shaft abrader and a TRSS blade
a few more shots of the handleIMG_1720.jpgIMG_1721.jpg

I like the way that you took the pic of them crossed. Sort of reminds me of blood brothers . I have really enjoyed my flipping stick! Found some stuff with it too !

hey Mr Rock
i thought i would bring this thread back so you can see some sticks

Thanks I did view them. I am looking for something that will scoop as well as flip. I have a spot that is usually on a hill side that is muddy and hard to reach. I am still thinking on it.

ok rocky

i see two ideas that look like they would work good for you

check out bsit's post #39

also river's at post #47

both on this thread,

I most always find a nearby beaver stick. Cut with a point on both ends, bark removed and clean as a whistle! Pick what length works for you. Rarely find those beavers though...
