Fish pics ( everybody )

Better late than never, right? Here are a few pics from our Fall Brawl Fishing. The brawl started in Oct. and ran until 12/01. We only got up there one weekend with one of our grandsons. We had a fun time, but he didn't even get on the board this year.

DSCN9864.JPG Hee hee I zoomed in on our friends.

Then, we were supposed to fish the last 10 days of the brawl, but we only got a couple days in before we were called back home. So, needless to say, we didn't win.

DSCN9881-11-23.JPG This was the first sight to greet us as we launched.

11-23-2.JPG The first one on.

11-23-9.JPG Hee hee, got our friends again.

11-23-10.JPG How about this "hot" new outfit? :laughing9:

11-23-12.JPG

11-23-14.JPG We were fishing out at what is called "The Crib." I was told to hold off on posting until after the brawl because "we" didn't want anyone fishing our spot. Psh. It was not all that!

11-23-17.JPG Even the pirate flag didn't help.

Yep, that is it. It was very warm. Not like last year, when I froze with my carharts. It is cold fishing, but the prizes are good.

Again, I was preoccupied, but according to my grandson, some one cheated by adding weights to their fish and they got caught and so the winner was re-announced. You'll have that.

People have been throwing lead down fishes throats to win for a LONG time.

FullSizeR.jpga nice mahi from today.....I'll be fishing hard for awhile if the weather let's us...supposed to blow 20+ tomorrow...we caught 2 mahis and this little grab bag of eaters.20191227_154538.jpg yellowtail snapper, bar jack, king fish, and bonita !! Not bad for a rough day at sea. The bar jack is great sushi and I have eaten a whole fish that size....RAW...in under 15 minutes !!

I like those Mahi. They are so colorful and they don't look real. That looks like a good size. You can tell it was rough because the horizon is slanted. Well done, Bart.

They are beautiful fish WD.....and wow are they good eating !! There pretty but mean WD. They can really fight when they dig that fat head in the water. This is a Male/bull. The males have a very flat forhead.

11-23-14.JPG I think you guys should turn this into a bed and breakfast !!!

What are ya doin when you cant fish chris ??

Some tourney around here lately had that too.
Not sure if ice was involved....(Ice put in fish). But it was a walleye tourney if recalled correctly.. [Edit,I'm reading thread backwards....It was the Fall Brawl tourney they changed the leader(s) through disqualification(s).!]

So you caught wind of the Fall Brawl? I am really not surprised. The participation escalated big time. In 2017 there were 3704 people signed up. This year there were 7954.

A forum I frequent had multiple mentions. From earlier rule requests , to the fall out later/at final.

Well gee whiz, RC. I was reading from the beginning and oh so wanted to chime in! LOL. Here is one I want to chime in on:

What really sucks is that there are probably guys that had close fish but didn't weigh them because they thought the weights listed were legit - those are the real losers in this drama. If I have a decent fish, I'll weigh it from now on after seeing this.

This is so true. There are quite a few that take their fish in anyways because they get their pic taken and posted and get their "15 seconds of fame," so to speak. There is also a Leader Board that keeps runs more than the money spots, giving that "15 seconds of fame," that's what Mr WD had my grandson and I do last year. Actually, all our friends encourage the kids and wives to do that. I guess because it helps instill the fever to fish. But, I do remember him saying, " We'll take it in anyways, because you never know." So, those who are experienced know to take the ones that are close in anyway, just in case. And those that don't, well they just gained experience through the school of hard knocks.

Being burned out after a day on the water , loading/packing up to leave , trying to keep an eye on your rig and gear ; and not expecting to place after glimpsing leaders weights ect. can add to a reason not to weigh in.

Might as well get your score on the "wailing wall" though , just in case....
Fame is fleeting. (Per my one small tourney win long ago. l.o.l..)
Even a potato chip sized fish could win the right/wrong tourney on a hypothetical certain crazy day.

Had two guys show up for one work related tourney no one knew. Fine though by the guys runnin it as they had passed out flyers.
Till the two strangers won it on a tough bite day with a couple dead white gilled spoiled lookin bass , and no one had thought to check their cooler when they registered....

Yes it could to some, but Mr WD and his friends/team are always pumped. Me and the girls drag a little. Everyone helps each other get their gear and rigs in. And if they have any to weigh to get on the board, that's the first stop. But if it is a close one to the money fish, they haul butt to get in and get there and get it weighed and then go back to their spot that they were fishing. One reason for that is the fish are pigging out at that time and you want to get them in before they start coughing up shad.

There are always ways to cheat, I guess. But there are ways to prove yourself, also. That's why I take pics.

That "15 min of fame" was meant for those people that just love to get their pic taken and posted to FB. Some are very small and no way they are going to get on the board, they just want their pic posted. A couple years ago, some lady came to the tackle shop just to get her pic with my hubby. So there she was standing next to him and holding his fish. LOL, he has a groupie. Last year, he had me get a pic so I would know what it was like to get on the board. My fish was in the money for the time, but he knew it wouldn't stay there, there was too much time left in the tourney. One year he took 4th place. At that time the pirze was only like $3000.00 and he split it with his fishing partner. That's how they roll.

IMG_0153.jpg ohhh !! Hell !! Ya !! Crushin em !! Caught 6 today.....epic conditions!!
