Before the FBI (or anybody else) could remove gold from that site, first somebody had to put gold into it.

Where did this gold come from?

The most common "explanation" seems to be a US Army payroll from the Civil War. That makes no sense. I don't think there has been an army in the history of the world that paid soldiers in gold bars. Where the soldiers supposed to take a camp axe and hack off what they were owed for the month?

The Union Army was largely paid in paper. Many soldiers had money sent home to their wives and family.

Until someone can document the source for the gold in this yarn, there's little purpose in worrying about what happened to it.

I haven't researched this aspect of it yet, so i can't comment. One thing though, the alleged stolen civil war gold was only 30-50 50lb bars depending on what account you read, so thats only a ton give or take of gold, not 9 tons allegedly scanned in this hole. On the surface, that rules it out as being the alleged lost payroll gold. The scan was such a huge mass, it actually points to it being a false reading.

I was reading up on the Gravimeter and guess what not so ironically can effect it's readings? Dome underground structures, crystalline structures and wait for it, compacted soil! Not so coincidentally, this scan took place over a cave and on the bed of an old road over the cave!

If one is just to purely play the odds, with on one hand it being 9 tons of gold just buried out in the forest or a false reading, and your life was the bet, you'd bet your life that it wasn't gold. Finding 9 tons of buried gold, probably has only happened a few times in the entire history of the world, if at all. I'm sure somewhere 9 tons has been stolen, think Spanish conquerors or invading armies, or perhaps on a sunken ship, but just found buried in the hills of PA? Long shot odds there....

Benezette township is 108 sq miles with a population of 207, mostly in 5 small villages.

This area is 99% wooded and continuous mountains in every direction. Your neighbors house could burn down a half mile away and you may never know it

It may be sparse county overall, but most of them live right in the Dent's run area, there are many, many people who live right near the dig site, see picture:

There the burger King and McDonald right next to the Walmart and the taco bell right next to the dunking donuts..why don't you head over and see the area then you would understand what rural really is . Let me know and I will meet you there so you don't get lost in those hills..

Most all of those are hunting cabins. 3/4 or more of all the buildings in the township are cabins. I've been going to family and friends cabins in that area for 60 yrs. Don't need to look at pics, seen it all in real life. Except for the gold Lol

I wasn't there at the time, but have been there plenty of times. Dents Run is as much an area as it is a dot on a map. It's a stream and a valley between the mountains.

The FBI or some other entity went out in the middle of the night to dig up a crime scene, and because this crime investigation is still ongoing they have to hide everything they investigated. Is that the story?


Imagine how any loot could have been plundered. Hell, I could have pulled it off if I was smart enough to work for the FBI.
