I'm sure that no matter what question you could ask a F&W representative, they can give you their princely yes or no answer. Even things that don't seem to have anything to do with a) fish, or b) wildlife.

For example, if you were there picnicking, or camping, or birdwatching, or whatever: If one of them were to come passing by your way, and if you were to ask them: "Hi, is it ok to each my sandwich here?", He would probably answer "yes" (or perhaps no, you are required to eat it at the picnic tables off yonder in the distance, etc....). Hence, therefore, in some people's minds, this means the F&W have authority over that aspect/usage. And that "gee, it's a good thing I asked", etc....

But heaven help you if you fed part of your sandwich to the birds or squirrels. You're ruining their diet, don't you know, and causing them to be dependent on others.....oh, wait, that's our welfare system......nevermind........

Simply outrageous! All you relic guys, stand by.......your day is coming too if this abuse of power is allowed to continue.

Now that I know its against the law, Im not touching a fossil or anything Native American, if I happen to stumble upon it in the woods. And Im not ever selling any of the few arrowheads I collected when I was a kid. Its not worth it. Strictly beaches for me in Florida.

Jimmy Carter was an avid arrow head collector. He hunted the peanut fields near his home and liked collecting arrowheads same way with Johnny Cash. Anyway when Carter was made president he changed the ARPA act of 1979 to here is where anything laying on the surface could be picked up and saved or collected. But you could not dig. His idea was to protect a simple hobby of surface collecting. The Fed Gov said ok that is fair enough. You can pick them up all day long but you may not remove them from Fed or Gov land!
But you have over zealous Fish and Game or TVA or what ever Gov agency they give a gun to who enforce the law the way they want to. If you hunt water hunt non navigable waterways or private land and you are ok. I used to carry the law printed out in a zip lock baggie under my dash of my boat and was stopped a few times.
It is one of the reasons everyone was against the new EPA law recently that gave them authority over say a ditch coming off your property. To broad of a brush stroke for an agency as messed up as the EPA.

You didn't say they had a search warrant. Not needed by law? Or govt violated law? Would you invite unknown armed people into your home, hahah? Your story doesn't even have them revealing what they were looking for, but house owner doesn't have a right to know? So every home in US can be searched without reason, hahah?

I read about 2 people who asked permission to detect a ghost town in a National Forest. The ranger said OK, but draw us a map showing exactly where the ghost town is located. So later, they raided one of the homes and took everything that *may* have been found with a metal detector *somewhere*, guilty unless given a chance to prove innocence? OK for all in govt to do whatever they want in a land where the Constitution has been shredded, hahah?
