From one site that is 8ft wide by 20ft long I dug every year that the Silver Jefferson War Nickel was minted. 1942, 1943, 1944, and 1945. I dug the 1945 this afternoon. I am so stoked to find these coins. To me it represents what we had to do to keep the supplies for the war flowing. I'm going to make a display for these coins to display proudly. I dug these with my new Fisher F-44 aka "War Machine"! Thanks for looking guys.

Produced by the United States from mid-1942 to 1945, these war nickels were made from 56% copper, 35% Silver, and 9% manganese. By saving the nickel metal, the government was able to use that metal for the production of military supplies during World War II.

Thank you all for posting.

Hang in there Zax we'll be back to your terrific OD complete set find after we stop kicking OD. DIDN'T YOU say you've found 20? Again that was 20, OD goes deaf at times or just pretends to.

Now that's what I call a good spot.

Congrats.

Now everyone knows what happens when you find a OD nickel...more comments than bust and seated coins get... lol and for that I vote banner!!! Rather than actually clicking the button I'm saying it...lol great finds once again I'm gonna pick myself up a bottle of that stuff to clean my OD nickels as well I got a lot to clean...how about you old dude? Lol

I don't know about Banner(could be) but most definitely Ribbon. Love the fact its a complete set.

I think it is very cool. I'm very happy finding them. Now if I could find some dimes or quarters!

Thanks to everyone for viewing my thread.

Congratulations on the war nickel collection. That small rectangle is producing nicely, wonder what the rest will give up.

Thank you Q! I hope to find a couple new places this fall Quindy. Professor so far it has given about a 12 pack of beer cans! I have dug more can slaw than dirt out of that place. I am going to take the F75 over it next trip out.

Great job on finding the whole series in one location. OD is probably going to seek therapy sessions after this post. Way to go!
