I found my 70th IHP for the year on July 1st. Have not been out in the fields since until today. The harvest is in and some of the fields have been disced already. The one I hit early this year that yielded 7 large cents is one of them. I hit that for about four hours this afternoon and scored four coins. The newest is 1870. It's not so much that the discing brought up deeper coins as it is it separates them from the iron.

First up was a first year Fatty IHP, an 1859 (take note, E-Trac. There are still some out there). It's in poor shape, but I can read the date. Next up was an 1870 shield nickel. Then I got back to back two cent pieces, an 1864 and an 1865. First time I've ever done that.

All in all I am happy with my first day back in four months.

Love the look of the copper 2 cent coins.
Great day of digging.
