From one site that is 8ft wide by 20ft long I dug every year that the Silver Jefferson War Nickel was minted. 1942, 1943, 1944, and 1945. I dug the 1945 this afternoon. I am so stoked to find these coins. To me it represents what we had to do to keep the supplies for the war flowing. I'm going to make a display for these coins to display proudly. I dug these with my new Fisher F-44 aka "War Machine"! Thanks for looking guys.

Produced by the United States from mid-1942 to 1945, these war nickels were made from 56% copper, 35% Silver, and 9% manganese. By saving the nickel metal, the government was able to use that metal for the production of military supplies during World War II.

OD will hit the mark soon hopefully! I've dug probably 20 or so since I started detecting. If only I could keep from digging all the nails and can slaw.
Hey OD you hear that ? He said 20.....I repeat 20 OD Nickels

Congrats Zax. These guys are creating more hype than there really is lol. There are several types of coins I haven't dug yet, but I thought I would pick one that should be obtainable. Well, guess what...I jinxed myself by saying I'd like to find one. I have found more buffs, V's, a Shield and a gold ring as the result of looking for one though, so not finding one hasn't been all bad lol.

These guys on here are funny. What machine are you using OD?

Yep no hype here at all OD. Don't make me bring out the Official Proclamation. I guess that new secret weapon is just to poke Chris away from the good finds huh.

Well Sir, For the last year and a half, I have been using an AT Pro. Just today my new detector arrived ~ an F75 Ltd. I hope it turns my old sites into new ones. I have a tiny yard, but after assembly, the Fisher says there just might be something there that I missed with the ATP. I didn't dig any targets yet, because it was dark by the time I got home from work, had dinner and put the detector together. I have 3 days off now and plan on jumping right out there.

Zax don't let him fool you. I know he got this too in his shipment. He's out there now digging up his yard..

They're pretty shiney OD nickels did you clean them up when you got home? Mine never look that nice but great job!

Nepadigger I did clean them up. I figured out the best way to clean them. Use naval jelly. I used Loctite Naval Jelly. Take a soft toothbrush and put a little dab on the tooth brush and scrub the corrosion right off. Then be sure to rinse with clean water. Makes them look really good. OD I know the F75 well. I have the SE. You are going to want to dig those 27-45 signals like crazy! I've had one or two War nickels show up in the 60's as well. I know the new F75 is not as chatty as the old F75's...Learn how to listen through the clicks and pops. I swear by my F75. One of the best metal detectors of all time if you ask me. I hope to get the new Model one day. I have been running the F-44 here lately. I like it so far. That is what I found all of these nickels with.

It's the OD quadfecta!

I like that, a OD Quadfecta. Has a nice ring to it!!

I can't get a dime trifecta never mind a Quadfecta and a ODfecta, another one for the wish list.

Dang it Zax...Cjon not gonna like u giving him clues ...lol

Depending on where OD lives it may be really hard for him to find one. With his new found heater AKA F75 he may be able to score one. I think we all need to get together somewhere when OD does find a War Nickel and celebrate!

"... depending on where OD lives it may be really hard for him to find one..."

Yeah no kidding, he lives about 40 miles from the mint where they were made (Philadelphia), and he can't find one. It is not a proximity/ locational issue... it's an "I can't find a silver nickel" issue!

I will show myself out now sir...
