English buckle?

Just got my first detector - this stuff is fun Found this near a 1700's English fort in the Caribbean (West Indies). Is this a buckle?

Wow! I don't have an ID on that but it has all the makings of an very nice 17th C. (But more likely) 18th C. buckle. And yes, likely English. I'll wait for the pros to chime in but I really think you have something great.

Definitely a buckle plate of some sort. Very interesting. I'll have to leave this one to the experts. Very interested to see what this turns out to be. Nice find.

I think it is a really old British military belt plate/shoulder badge. Now just to id it. Can you make out more of what it says down below? Sometimes in person it's easier on different lighting and angle.

Using Wiki & no knowledge on these types of buckle, here are some possibilities:

Adams' Rangers, a unit in the Revolutionary War
Butler's Rangers, a unit in the Revolutionary War
King's Rangers, a unit in the Revolutionary War
Queen's Rangers, a unit in the Revolutionary War
Rogers' Rangers, a unit in the French and Indian War

Shoulder makes sense with the positioning of the design.

Its not the same but the middle design made me think of the above. I think it will turn out to be British, maybe a colonial regiment.

I don't think it has Rangers in it.

Pretty sure it will turn out to be;
Very Rare (or more)
Late 18th C (may just tip into 19th C)
The type of buckle plate that went on the strap that went over the shoulder

Not so sure about;
Looks crudely incised design, so thinking it might be done by an amateur on a blank plate?

Maybe the wording was added later. If I was him I'd run some water over it and pat it gently off with paper towel or cloth and then quickly under some good light before the water dries it should be way easier to read the words that are hard to make out. At least that way it wouldn't damage anything that a tooth picking or something might do and make it worse to read!

Awesome find, in fantastic (as dug) condition too.
Banner for sure.
The center design reminds me quite a bit of the royal fusiliers buttons, that may help track it down ?
