***Earned Opinion***

BC1969 got me to thinking. It's up to us old timers to tell the youngsters what and how things used to be. We were watching tv yesterday, forgot what show, and Jane Fonda came on. My wife made several remarks about her, and I couldn't take it any longer, I had to speak up. I asked her if she had ever heard of " Hanoi Jane". Whose's that I hear. When I explained it to her, she said she would never look at her the same way again.

War is hell! The things that give you the edge is going to happen. The Israeli Mossad are expert in this line of intelligence gathering. Remember the '72 olympics? Terrorists killed 7 wrestlers? The Mossad quietly killed EVERY bad guy directly involved. The leader's driver was convinced (tortured?) to give the Mossad agent the leader's cell phone. When the leader made a phone call and his voice was recognized by computer apps, they pressed a button and BAM! He lost his head. War is hell; do what is required. TTC

What you don't understand is these people fought for your right to voice your opinion. Your thoughts, values and opinions are
always welcome here, either popular or not, you are entitled to what you believe. Yes I did serve, never well almost never was
in combat. I set on a starlifter at McChord AFB waiting to drop in on Grenada. We never left the tarmac but we were ready
to go.

Please, don't be afraid to speak your mind, this is America and not Amerika.
I was in combat. I was in a lot of face to face fighting. I've had Viet counterparts die next to me. You do what must be done! You do whatever keeps you alive. TTC

Well, I spent 8 years in the Army so I think I am entitled to my opinion here.
I am sick and tired to seeing refrences to US tourcure of the enemy. Things were mentioned like turning the lights on and off to deprive them of sleep and here they are cutting off the heads of there captured prisoiners and you see less protest. I think we would be better off without prisiners if you get my drift. Just my opinion on war tactics. FrankView attachment 1090249

I remember in 78' or 79' this guy named Nick was hired at my plant. Nick was different. He didn't talk, go to the break room or the locker room. He'd sit all day at his job in his own "little world" totally withdrawn from the rest of us. This routine was unbroken for at least 6 months and we all just rolled with it. One day the break whistle blows @ 9:00 am. I get up and walk past Nicks station. Then out of the blue Nick says... "Come here... I wanna talk to you". First time I ever heard his voice. So I walk over and he starts telling a story to me like he'd already started it before and didn't get it finished. He says "You know what we did to get information?" I said "About what?" He says... Over in Vietnam. I said "No". So... as casual as hell he tells me. He said we'd take 5-6 captives up in a helicopter to about 200-300 ft. Then we'd take one near the open door and ask "What and where?" When he didn't know... out the door he'd go. He said we'd always ask the ones we suspected didn't know anything 1st. He said we'd repeat this 2-3-4 times then grab the one we thought knew everything. I asked well did it work? Oh yea... worked great!!! He'd spill his guts out and tell us everything. I asked "what did you do then...?" Calmly he says... "We threw the rest of them out also and got back to work". He said "We needed information NOW!" I was stunned not just by the story but by Nick, the way he told it and the manner in which he told it. And then he says to me... "Tell that tow driver the next time he bumps my conveyor belt it will be the last time".

What do you do after hearing that story and his warning to me about the tow driver... why me? I told/warned the driver. A few hours later that day the tow driver did hit the belt again. Nick came around his press and without so much as a word beat the man senseless and put two other men down quickly with marital arts who came to help. Nobody could or would get close to Nick. He wouldn't even let anyone touch the 3 guys down. It took 1.5 hrs. to calm him down. He had a total mental breakdown that day they said.... I think his breakdown started years ago up in a helicopter in Vietnam getting information to save lives. I never saw Nick again after that day. Why he felt compelled that day to tell me his experience is anybody's guess. But it wasn't cool to hear about or see this man come unglued.

I have heard story's like this. I was a infantry man and I do know when we had prisoner in the field they were not mistreated. If you got caught doing so, you had big time problems. I don't like when I hear these story's about Vietnam vets being wacked out. he could of been a what a be also. In the 60;s and 70;s , No one wanted to be a Vietnam vet, now everyone wants to be one. We were good soldiers over there, I have a great video I will try and find and link it to this. I am a proud Vietnam vet, and today I can finally say that

I will not reply to this post again, We were good soldiers in Vietnam, never lost a battle, may have lost the war but never a battle
There are lots on men that use stolen Valor, and it makes me sick when I hear a guy gets caught doing that. I stand proud today ,and would do it again in a heart beat. like I said I am not responding to this post any more. This post should seal the deal

I have also heard of the helo-interregation technique. Most are nonsense. TTC

I also heard of those "interrogations".

My actual MOS was 04B2L80. I spent two years in language school studying Vietnamese prior to arriving in country and assigned to the 4th Infantry.

I interrogated prisoners, among my "other" duties. Yes, I still speak Vietnamese in my head. Only once did I see any sort of torture or abuse. I questioned a mortally wounded NVA colonel. One of the guards kept grabbing and gouging his wounds - it was sickening. The colonel passed away having said nothing. Maybe that guard is still remembering what he did - he should be tortured by those memories.

After all, it stays in my head....

Keep the faith!

Damn I hope so... I had NEVER heard of this being done as I didn't serve in Vietnam. I've also never heard of the "helo-interregation technique" either sir and I hope most are nonsense also. I graduated in 73' and the Vietnam war was over and I started my life. My Grandfather and dad both served and I thought about signing up (draft was over) but my dad got me a job at GM and I never quit. And also THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE AND ALL THAT HAVE SERVED!!!

To this day I don't why Nick shared that story with me as we had never spoken before. Even working side by side for 6 months and my cordial comments to him everyday had never prompted a response. He told me MUCH more in the 20 minutes I listened than I'll ever share here on what he said he did. Was Nick telling me the truth...? I'll never know. But he sure as hell got my attention and he was the type person when he was talking to you, you stayed attentive and listened too even on this 1st encounter. I sincerely hope it was pure fantasy... and I wish he hadn't even shared his experiences in those few minutes. But he sure come unglued that day at work for some reason. After 1.5 hrs. he left with law enforcement uncuffed or shackled ... weeping. I really felt sorry for him. Bothers me to this day....?

I believe Nick for some reason. And I don't have 1 reason why I should. Especially after what he did a few hours later to those 3 men and the stand he took. But he was a very dangerous man in self defense or attack mode.

Sgt. tee & TerryC.... Again, thanks for your service from the heart. All of you that have served... THANKS!!!!!!!!

I have things that still go with me today.Nightmares, guilt feelings, etc. Although I feel I DID make a difference, some of our Viet counterparts (I lived in a village) died under my command. Could I have done better? I think not, yet things persist. Thank you for the THANK YOU. Those that have never seen combat can only GUESS at the turmoil in the head afterwords. TTC

frankly --if the monsters that burn folks alive , cut folks heads off with swords and kill children just for being of "the wrong faith" are broken and forced to give information that will stop others of their kind from doing the above things to others by not allowing them to sleep --I am all for it -- and if it comes to stopping a 911 type terror attack sometimes you gotta break a few eggs to make a omelete

According to Senator Rufio (Rubio) in an interview yesterday we no longer take prisoners... Now I always thought that was part of the Geneva Convention... and he's a Presidential Hopeful??????

The US never signed the Geneva Convention.

I think that all of you veterans, past and present, are truly heroes, and appreciate your courage and sacrifices to preserve our freedoms. It is my opinion that we as a country should pursue any means available to protect our people, troops and civilians alike, but feel these methods don't need to be known by Joe public. Thank God I live in a country where I still have freedom to voice my opinions.

Carlsjr we have rules and your breaking them, stop the insults now...
