I am not nearly as knowlegable as CC and CBG and thats a fact. I am just good at research and googling. And yes I believe there was a misunderstanding and it was my fault. Technically, if someone wanted to nitpick, my statement on 2 piece buttons was incorrect. I meant to say 2 piece iron back buttons (of this type) cannot be older than mid-19th (I should have said 1830ish) and I will try to be more careful with my choice of words in the future.

There is no nice way to tell someone they are wrong and it takes forum skill to talk in a non- condescending way. I have seen feelings get hurt time and time again. Give some credit to the person who first made the ID for starters.

I agree the ID is correct but over the years I have seen a few buttons posted here that just dont fit the rules so I myself try to refrain from using words like definitely esp with small and/or blurry pics. It can come back and bite you. Some of the eagle anchor naval buttons posted here in the past come to mind that just didnt fit any general rule or standard and could not be found in any book and I believe to this day remained unidentified..

Happy Holidays to everyone.

 I of all people know how interpreting statements and getting points across via the net can be a precarious practice....just when I think I know something I am wrong....ask CC!! ;D
