Thanks.

It's interesting that you posted a link to a site that I was looking at earlier today and spent about an hour on. It's a great link and should be of interest to all.

And if you happen to come across another site, one with photos of old factory buildings, etc., I know we would like to see that as well.

I really didn't want to post this, but temptation got the best of me.

Plus it's about the only thing I've found so far on old bottle factories.

~ * ~

New England Glass Works (1780-81) in Temple, NH.
There was one of those not to far from here in smAlbany...somewhere south in the Catskills. Haven't gotten there yet but an experienced digger told me it wasn't worth the time because all the bottles that would be there would be the broken ones as the good ones would be sold.

A simple PM to Tnet member Harry Pristis will get you an idea of the bottle's value. And this would also save a lot of wild speculation.

My advice to you is to broaden out and learn all you can about many different areas of collecting: Bottles, Relics, Tokens...and the list goes on. Coins are nice, but the most valuable items I've recovered, found, or dug were not coins--and I have 1000s of coins in my dug collection going back 250 years.

:icon_thumright:,Great bottle,Welcome to TN!...The reason i quote"Buckle" is he's right broaden your horizon's ! coin's are great i got plenty but my most valuble wasn't a coin either&the best thing to do is :read2:!!!,Great find...HH ALL !!!-Have fun Weston

So much to read. I think Bob found the closest matching pic. :icon_thumright: There seems to be many variations. I wonder if this eagle flask was produced by many different glass companies. :dontknow: There were a ton of glass factories in the Ohio Valley/ Pittsburgh area.

All I can say is that its obviously hand blown in a mold, sheared lip, aqua glass, pontil mark... I think its real. However they do make hand blown reproductions but considering you found it in an old barn, I would guess you found an authentic early American flask (early 1800's). Nice find.

Can you tell the whole story like where it was found, or did I miss it?

Best advice you have been given. They may even own several for comparison.
Good luck hope its worth bunches !
I agree. So far we are only guessing.

I have seen this historical flask before and Im not an expert. Google "eagle flask" and you will see several in images. Its a very well known desirable bottle. I think they will know exactly what this is and where it was made. SWR would know. The bottle guys will know.

After you post in the bottle forum, I hope you will post your findings back here. Thanks.

Guys, he did post this down in the bottle and glass. Unfortunately it didn't generate much interest, but I think that is because the OP Weston didn't ask any questions or make any input on the bottle after he posted it. Still a very nice flask. http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,290713.0.html
