You busted them! So they crawled up to your porch with their tails between their legs in the middle of the night to return cam. I think they should have handed the camera to you in person and apologized. I’d turn them in to the sheriff and file a complaint. At a minimum, they should get a visit from a county deputy. They will at least be “known to the sheriff’s” for future reference.

I had two trail cams close together on an old logging road. These guys stole one but missed the other. I posted these pics on a local facebook group.. Several people recognized them and we found the stolen camera on my porch the next day.
Greasy people good work getting your stuff back

Glad you got them back. Rather than returning them to you in person, how bout never steal them in the first damn place? I'll bet alcohol was involved, then again stupidity these days doesn't require alcohol.

I gave the lol for the idiots that stole it getting photographed and the outcome.
👍

Thanks Everyone! I had filed a report with the Sheriffs dept and had not heard anything from them for a few days, so I made the facebook post and immediately got results. Right after the camera was returned the State Game warden contacted me.. He recognized them from the pictures I posted on fb, and said he had busted them on a game violation about a year ago, and is still very interested in them... Anyway they are very popular now. Sheriffs Dept, fish and game and lots of locals are watching them.

I report Rum bottles mysteriously disappearing ... most of the time they just take the Rum and leave the bottles behind.

Always happens when i am sleeping...
Wake up and the Rum is just gone.

When i report it... they just put me on hold with some terrible elevator type music...
Which sucks bad during a hangover i might add.

Was it private property? Be interesting to know if there are any laws around finding something on public land and taking it.

It was National Forest Land. The State Game warden or the Sheriff never said anything you find on public property is free.
What if you find some old car tires can you take those? I also use game cameras. But you got me curious now. 🤔

I would think that no one was coming back for old tires or other litter, but these guys are hunters and know that a trail cam strapped to a tree and turned on belongs to someone... They also deleted the card because they had to be on the stolen one also.

If I have learned anything from this thread it is that I need to get another camera and point them at each other.💡
