Given the high spot price for silver and gold lately, I figured now is a great time to turn some silver into cash for the holidays. I sent about 190 oz of sterling silver to Midwest Refineries in Michigan. Imagine my surprise when I received a check a week later for over $4,700!! I thought for sure that it would take several weeks to get the settlement check, my wrong! Talk about quick service.
Midwest pays 90% of precious metal content; for example, an oz of sterling which has 92% silver content, would be about 82% of spot price. If spot is $30.00/oz for silver you’d receive about $24.60 for the oz of sterling. Compare this to 20-35% I would have received from a coin dealer or even worse from those “Buy Silver and Gold” outfits you see advertised in news papers.
I hardly even give businesses high rating for service, but you can’t beat Midwest for accurate weight and very quick payment. Btw, I have no connection to Midwest refineries. But the next load of silver or gold I sell, guess where is will be sent? Happy Hunting.
