From Cru'dad;
''Following post (dated 24 Jun) has a coin ID request which Mackaydon has already pointed the way

Here is a Greek example of a silver Tetradrachmn in similar style with full details.

'If' this is a circa 450BC coin found in the UK, it's a BANNER coin!

Can we have better pictures of both sides?

I have only ever heard of 1 other famous case of a coin that old being recorded in the UK, it baffled the Archies....(although I haven't followed that up with more research)

thanks a lot for that looks very similar...cheers Russ

to be honest it does look similar to that from what can be seen the other side is not so clear , will try and clean it up for a better pic but not sure it will get much better I m only a novice really... cheers Russ

thanks Jamie, but its more like the one on the link Crusader sent am going to attempt to get it cleaner and better pics cheers Russ

You maybe sitting on a gold-mind.

I agree with Crusader. Looks like the Tetradrachm in his link. Very early find and Banner worth for sure. :icon_thumleft:

whats Banner worth mean Westfront ? excuse my ignorance....

Where is the reverse pictures?

It most definitely looks Greek to me. What is the dimension? Most Denarius should be 18 to 19 mm or so I believe

Congrats thats a museum find

Anyone know if there's any value to a coin like this or would it be another one for the attic finds bag?
