Cz & Lucky Buddha finds me a Cache!!!

Hello all,,,
Can you see the smile on my face? :)
I haven't posted in best finds in while, so I figured this would be a good spot for this.
My cousin couldn't make it today, so I decided to stick fairly close to home. I went to a place that has been around since the early 1800's , but it has never really had all that much public traffic. I had been hunting for about an hour & a half and all I had to show for it was somekind of token and a 1977 Roosevelt dime. I was heading back towards the car still swinging along the way when I got a good high-tone at over 8" down. I had been digging deep iron targets quite a bit, so I wasn't all that excited about it. I dug down to about 10" and my knife goes right through the foil type lid of a jar. I thought to meself, I couldn't be that lucky for it to be a cache. I dug around the jar so I could get it out of the dirt and when I lifted it, I could here a jingle. :)

I started shaking the jar to empty the dirt and the silver just started pouring onto the ground. I was STOKED!
I could not believe my eyes there were Barber coins all over the place. I picked up a bunch, wasn't even sure how many and stuck them in my pouch. I was getting ready to fill in the hole and run to the car to show off my finds and realized I had better check around to see if I got them all. It was a good thing I did because I found three more Barber quarters mixed in the dirt. I scanned an area of about 5 foot before I left, just to make sure there wasn't more around.

The total was:? 8 Coins? ;D

1906 D Barber Half
1917 Walking Liberty Half
1920 Standing Liberty Quarter

All the rest were Barber Quarters:
1894
1898 O
1907
1908
1908 D

Once I got home, and after I had to take a look at the finds, I rinsed the token off with some water, only to find out it was a LUCKY BUDDHA token... :) It sure was lucky for me and I'm going to have it with me when I buy a Powerball ticket for tonight. :)

Hope you all had? the same luck...
Good luck & Happy hunting~

P.S. I'll try to get some close ups of the coins later tonight, I have them soaking in water at the moment.

Leon, great coins. Congratulations!

Re: Cz & Lucky Buddha finds me a Cache!!!

That is really cool. 8) I would be pumped too. Good thing you dig those deep signals. I tend to pass over those "large - deep signals" but I think I will reconsider.

My brother in law burried a cache in a local park around here. IT was buried since 1960's. He did it so that when he got married and had a son he would go back and dig it up with him. I told him that somebody with a MD might find it. Well nobody did and he dug it up with his son this year. He was disappointed that the coins and "stuff" were not in better condition. He showed me what was in it and I think you did better with yours. 8)

Wow, That's awesome Leon. Congrats man. I bet you were really excited when you saw silver and big silver to boot hit the ground.

It's hard to find one of those coins on any outings. So to get 8 at once you probably could have died and went to heaven at that point if you weren't already there for a moment.

You seem like a good dude. I'm glad you made the find man.

Good Luck Jer

Re: Cz & Lucky Buddha finds me a Cache!!!

WHOAAA!!! FABULOUS, Leon! Congratulations.

Think back to where the cache was buried, will ya? Does it make sense where it was, in relation to the house and windows and such? Where in the yard was it located???

Inquiring minds want to know! LOL

Again, congrats and well done!! A dream find.

Re: Cz & Lucky Buddha finds me a Cache!!!

Leon,

I love cache stories. This is another great one. Awesome coins! Way to go!

Re: Cz & Lucky Buddha finds me a Cache!!!

WOW!!!! Leon when you told me about finding a cache, I was thinking (insert mexican accent) " cache?" "what cache?" "he didn't find no stinking cache?!!)

I hadn't seen your (uh...you can stop with the mexican accent now) post yet.

Fantastic find!!! Congratulations!!! And thank you for straightening me out on the CZ.
WTG!!! HH

Re: Cz & Lucky Buddha finds me a Cache!!!

Wow! Thanks again all,,,

rvbvetter,,, Funny, I use that accent myself sometimes... ;D and you are very welcome, I'm clad I could help...

TXKajun,,, believe me, I don't have to think very hard. I don't think I'll ever forget where that spot is...
The place this was found is an old complex with many building. As stated above it was establish back in the early 1800's and hasn't changed a whole lot through the years. Although, if you look at some older photo's of the place, the spot where I found the cache was in one of the small wooded areas on the grounds. There are only a few trees left there these days, and the cache was about 15 feet away from one of bigest, and oldest ones left still standing. I would get into more details, but I'm not sure if I want to give out the exact location just yet.

I hope you all find a cache of your own someday. Every detectorist in the world should have that feeling at least once in his, or her, lifetime... I really have to thank my cousin for getting me into detecting. I feel kind of bad that I snagged the cache when he wasn't able to be there. He told me that he always thought there was a cache somewhere on the grounds and I hope there's another one there waiting on him...

Again,,, Thanks all...
Good luck & Happy hunting~

Just goes to show, dig every signal you find and like the fisherman fishing for muskie or northern pike when bringing your lure back up to the boat always follow through and keep working that figure 8... all the way back to the car.
Happy huntin.

I am a big fan of Nascar, although I don't follow it as close as I used to...
