Cz & Lucky Buddha finds me a Cache!!!

Hello all,,,
Can you see the smile on my face? :)
I haven't posted in best finds in while, so I figured this would be a good spot for this.
My cousin couldn't make it today, so I decided to stick fairly close to home. I went to a place that has been around since the early 1800's , but it has never really had all that much public traffic. I had been hunting for about an hour & a half and all I had to show for it was somekind of token and a 1977 Roosevelt dime. I was heading back towards the car still swinging along the way when I got a good high-tone at over 8" down. I had been digging deep iron targets quite a bit, so I wasn't all that excited about it. I dug down to about 10" and my knife goes right through the foil type lid of a jar. I thought to meself, I couldn't be that lucky for it to be a cache. I dug around the jar so I could get it out of the dirt and when I lifted it, I could here a jingle. :)

I started shaking the jar to empty the dirt and the silver just started pouring onto the ground. I was STOKED!
I could not believe my eyes there were Barber coins all over the place. I picked up a bunch, wasn't even sure how many and stuck them in my pouch. I was getting ready to fill in the hole and run to the car to show off my finds and realized I had better check around to see if I got them all. It was a good thing I did because I found three more Barber quarters mixed in the dirt. I scanned an area of about 5 foot before I left, just to make sure there wasn't more around.

The total was:? 8 Coins? ;D

1906 D Barber Half
1917 Walking Liberty Half
1920 Standing Liberty Quarter

All the rest were Barber Quarters:
1894
1898 O
1907
1908
1908 D

Once I got home, and after I had to take a look at the finds, I rinsed the token off with some water, only to find out it was a LUCKY BUDDHA token... :) It sure was lucky for me and I'm going to have it with me when I buy a Powerball ticket for tonight. :)

Hope you all had? the same luck...
Good luck & Happy hunting~

P.S. I'll try to get some close ups of the coins later tonight, I have them soaking in water at the moment.

Re: Cz & Lucky Buddha finds me a Cache!!!

Some of the coins are in really great shape both the Walker half, and the Standing Liberty quarter are both AU, I would say.
I don't know anything about grading coins, so they may grade even higher than that, the picture does not do them justice.
Most of the barber all have a little ware, but are in pretty good condition. Almost all of them though, have some mean green on them. Does anyone if you can get this off without ruining the value of the coins.
Let me see if I can get all the pics loaded up...

Re: Cz & Lucky Buddha finds me a Cache!!!

Thanks a lot guys,,,
I'm still floating, might have to change ID's with Floater for a few days... ;D
I was wanting to give an update on the coins. The green stuff on them, I thought was the green corrosion that gets on pennies, but after looking closer, I think it's clay, or playdough. I think maybe they stuck it between the coins to keep them from rubbing each other?.

I got to tell ya, I didn't really think I would ever find a cache, but this is awesome...
The coins are great, but it was the thrill of the find that I will never forget. I can't stop wondering, Who, When, and Why, they buried these coins, and also why they never came back to get them. I guess I will never know...

I was also wondering if anyone could maybe give an approximate age of the Pond's cold cream jar?

Re: Cz & Lucky Buddha finds me a Cache!!!

Way to go Leon! I'm jealous also!! I love the jar too! That in itself is quite a treasure. I know deep in my heart that there is a cache where I live. It's an old house split into apartments. I keep finding chunks of broken Mason jars popping up. I even found a whole lid! Unfortunately though, I don't have the "Bomb" metal detector. I'm persistant though. I do hope to be posting my own cache story in the near future. Meanwhile..............thanks for posting yours!!

Happy Hunting,

Moon

Leon, WTG, it must feel great to be one of the chosen few to ever find a cache. You are envied by all.
