Montana Jim--- Do you have another link to the website you posted.

I can not get it to work.. TIA

Yea... that acted goofy for me too after I posted it... I'll see if I can figure that out... :P

UPDATE: Google "national park service badges uniform ornamentation" - The first two selections that show is what got me there... they must be working on the server? I cannot get to it now either. ???

Excuse me??? Isn't that a button from a uniform worn by a soldier from the War of Northern Aggression?? What's this "Civil War" everyone talks about???

Nice button!! Keep digging where there is one.. there is two... and so on...

No it does not open Gypsy. Chatelaine????

Yes MonkeyBoy is correct. By definition, a Civil War is a war in which a section or part of a country's citizens rise up and try to over throw their government. The South was not a PART of the United States since they had seceded and formed their OWN country Confederate States of America, and operated peacefully for months before war broke out. So, actually it was not a "Civil War" but was the Second War for Independence, War for Southern Independence or quite literally, the War of Northern Aggression.

That button is a modern reproduction.

Here is a quote from a United States Patent and Trademark Office document:

"Buttons & Badges
First, here is a note for button collectors new and old.
Waterbury Button Company is still in business and they are still making buttons. If they are marked on the back with Waterbury Co., you are safe. However, if they are marked with Waterbury Co’s, these are newer reproductions. These have been made for a few years now and are showing up on several auction sites as “real” buttons. … Waterbury Button Company states these are reproductions from the original molds. …

You may view the entire document here:

It is still a nice find!

Good info Neil---- Thanks for the update.

I will not be fooled again.

Thanks also to Montana Jim.
