I was detecting yesterday at an 1820's house. Wasn't finding a whole lot and then I got a faint high tone on the Deus II. I ended up digging over a foot down and pulled out this beauty. I've found frames and pieces before but never one this complete. It has an interesting crude open work design. This thing is huge and heavy, I definitely wouldn't want to have to wear these on my feet all day!!

I also got some kind of copper nearby but it's completely wiped and I can't make out any details.

I'm wondering by its size and flatness whether the buckle is a shoe buckle? Could it be a belt buckle? It sure is an old style.
There might be some coin details revealed by a lemon juice bath.

Thanks, I'm pretty certain it is a shoe buckle though. It may look flat in the photos but has a big curve to it
