As a "poor" member of society, I remember hunting, cleaning and eating rabbit and squirrel.;

"Bullets cost money, Boy" As my Pap would say.....
Thus my Medal for rifle shootin' in the army.....

Everyone has to eat, right?

Thanks for that! Very thoughtful: ))

Yes but with her rehabbin em, no way for a suggestion. She's to fast or i,m to slow.
Ex brother in law had one he fed treats and built a little house for.
I was handing it acorns one day and was not paying attention. It grabbed my finger and bite to the bone each side. Pried its jaws open, set it down and went and cleaned it out. Quit feeding it too.
As kids one came around for treats too.

I bet that sure hurt! I try not to handle the adults. ..you are right those teeth are like a nut cracker! Literally!

They're cute but I'm hungry ummmm....LOL just kidding I rescued a baby last year that had gotten blown out of a nest while mushroom hunting its sibling wasn't so lucky lil grey one he was on verge of death cold and wet...came back to life inside my jacket on the 35mi drive to the actual wildlife rescue.

Last fall a black squirrel worked the road in front of an old farm down the road. The traffic hulled the walnuts for him. There is a resident eagle, also hawks and four legged predators so he has a busy go of it.

That was nice of you..yes, the first thing to do is keep them warm and do not give anything to eat or drink. The organs shut down when they are cold. The first 24 hours the are usually just given ringers to re-hydrate, then started on diluted formula based on age and weight. .Everything you always wanted to know...

Sounds like it..they have a hard time in the wild!

I was actually a little bothered by the guy I handed the lil guy off to though...seemed like he was just there for the money?? Wonder if that was his demenor when he got that job?? Lady at the front desk seemed that way too idk maybe they were just overwhelmed or something easy to misread

Had a night hawk downed out side a shop i worked in. it seemed all right but not active.(not interested in flight) suspect it collided with some thing. Handed it off to a first shifter who took it to a nature center and he made it sound like they were really passionate. Lucky bird.

Scotts post. Military police. Germany experience. My bud served in Germany too. When they say roust, you roust! (Get out, move )

"Roust! Schnell, (german swearword)! Gehen sie macht schnell!

Can I say, "Hundescheiß?"

If not, please disregard....

Thanks for allowing me the memories....

Best,

Scott

Having no camera seems to provide missed opportunities. If captured accurately.

A pair of pilated woodpeckers been around all winter(huge birds!).
Place up the main road with firewood for sale sign in yard dropped(chain sawed)giant oak, catching side of house. Would have been hard keeping a straight face asking for permission to photo, get that sign in it,click.

Once chowder is gone, maybe stone soup?
Or work a village, sharpen knives,or what ever a few places for stew fixens.
About a month away from any greens here...
