Oh the memories... we had one heck of a party. Tried to serve it just like you did, and Brie slapped the crap outta me.

now that was funny (in fairness to me, auto correct upper cased the B). tried to think of pithy response but couldn't think of one to match you.
touché!

welcome DeepseekerADS. not sure how (or why) i found this forum but im glad i did.
Lucky Larry, AKA Brie's friend.

Gary,

Pretty common item in Montreal restaurants as an entree.....they call it chevre chaud salad...simple translation hot goat cheese salad served on a bed of mixed young lettuce.

If served on it's own best topped by something tangy such as cranberry sauce or some such....

Bill

Larry,

have not had the pleasure of having mint jelly on brie, but have tried maple syrup on brie, and that was a mistake.....but the syrup was good! I never acquired a taste for brie , and it seems to be served everywhere......Gary

Larry,

This thread is like ,"Hotel California", you don't knowhow you got here, but,"you can't never leave":laughing7: But all that aside it's a pleasure to have you here......Gary

Gary,

Speaking of beans.....here's a simple way to prepare garden fresh green or yellow beans....steam until just tender drain and blanch in cold water....

Dry off and saute in a frying pan with butter until slightly browned salt pepper and a sprinkling of parsley at serving time....simple and delicious.

Bill

So in theory, this is really one contest that you want to win? My luck, I'd finish 5th, and win a week picking beans....Gary

Bill,

Sounds good, never used butter, but have done with olive oil and mushrooms....but will try your method. This time of the season beans are plentiful, and cheap. My wife's favorite veg., so we have them often, not to jump your post, but have you tried adding new red potato's to your beans, and cook in milk, which makes a really good sauce......Gary

Hot Goat cheese and baby lettuce.... I'll have to work on this a little more.

Folks,

If someone wants to try the chevre chaud salad heck I've even added a video with step by step instructions....

Bill,

Nice video, but I haven't developed a taste for goat cheese yet.....might have to try a couple more times....

Well, it's the bewitching hour, thunder-storms have just blew through the Lake, and finally the air is changing...Night to you all, and see you back here tomorrow....Gary
