Crime Stats & the Gun Debate

I'm all for Peace. Pretty sure there are a lot of those in the middle east and elsewhere that are not going to see it our way. Our men and women in the military deserve honor. They are noble and suffer PTSD from there service. I'll let others worry about peace. I'll help the ones that protect me.
You are a better person than me that's for sure.. I for one could not endure to listen to the pain and anguish that some of these men and women have gone through.. That in itself has got to be one hell of a hard job.. To listen to somebody that has had those types of experiences and know what to say to them well that is a job that I would surely not know how to do.. Help them and make sure that they get to enjoy the life and freedoms that they provide and let them know as long as they are on American soil that there are people who will look out for them.. Their job has been done and we will surely do ours now...

OK....I went through the thread and tried to digest it as best as I could....you do have some valid points I might add....born in 1950 pretty much everything I ate as a kid was prepared from scratch....today me and the missus eat probably 80% from scratch....very little processed or prepared food.....so I'm with you so far.

2001 I got a buy out package or early retirement if you will....border line burnout case....and thanks to good food, exercise and fresh air I managed to rebuild my health and stamina on my own....no meds, or professional health care required....

But that said I was fairly well adjusted/normal....whatever that implies these days....to begin with...

Others because of genetics, life stresses/experiences, etc.....are not so fortunate and need medical/psychiatric intervention to help them sort out their conditions and problems....that's a given.....that's where Crispin and company come into play.....in all due respect your solution is slightly overly simplistic to my mind.

Well your right to a point.. Back when you're talking about they locked people with mental disorers up in awful places called hospitols.. Which were nothing of the sort they treated them horribly and that treatment ultimatley lead to very few of them being helped.. They were just kept out of sight and out of mind.. As for kids nowadays yeah sure they get put on medication but alot of them need it.. I for one find it hard to believe that a doctor that swore to uphold a certain level of ethics is just putting kids on medication for the hell of it.. Also smacking kids well my mom gave me a whack every once and a while but she hardly abused me.. Alot of these kids on this medication are just that abused in my opinion

I would give this two likes if I could!

Red what happened to you drone thread. That was a pretty big deal. Looking forward to hearing all the Obama supporters who used to skewer bush for gitmo, etc.

I believe it went the way of all threads deemed either to political or controversial.

A doctor will do what the Government says to do or they wont get paid...research would help you out alot..lol and with what you said is NO different that taking the OATH on the Constitution, like the president has done but yet he wants to mess with it....which is automatically reason for impeachment...so a doctor, just a doctor wouldnt do WHAT..

Ok well now it's my turn.. I am very aware of what the constitution says and how it reads along with the bill of rights for that matter.... Doctors nowadays are constantley being hit with malpractice suits and you only have to watch tv. to see the commercials with the countless number of attorneys trying to sue them for god knows what... So I have a hard time believing the majority of them would jepordize their careers over as you put it the govenment and or to get paid.. They call this paranoia my freind.. So before you question my knowledge on anything please take all the facts into account.. I am not personally trying to attack you or get into a debate but I am very aware what I am talking about..

Fact is the world in which we're currently living is not 1950's/1970's era.....when things were pretty much cut and dried....today's world with the internet and cellphones, 3D internet games......unfortunately the lines between reality/fiction, etc....have gotten somewhat blurred/skewed where the kids of today.....have a hard time sorting out what's real and what's fictitious.

And then to confuse matters or complicate things....eating overly processed foods, very little if any exercise and fresh air....face to face interreaction....well I hope you get my drift.

The government did not wake a surgeon at pre 4:00 a.m. to assemble a team to work on me for 4 hrs. ,enough to keep me alive, with some additional effort that will last hopefully as long as i do. No one could make any one do what followed, surgery after surgery and many weeks of people actually caring, for the money,i,m not that easily fooled. The doctors i have discussed it with do not object to an holistic approach as long as they are aware of what is involved.
With former student(s) of mental health on board theory goes out the window on a touchy subject. especially when field is career.

I actually believe RR supported some level gun restrictions if I'm not mistaken. So called assault weapons.

As the assault weapon ban vote neared, Reagan — who as president had signed 1986 legislation loosening restrictions on guns — wrote a letter with former Presidents Ford and Carter to the House of Representatives urging them to vote in favor of the ban.
“We are writing to urge your support for a ban on the domestic manufacture of military-style assault weapons. This is a matter of vital importance to the public safety,” the letter said.
“While we recognize that assault weapon legislation will not stop all assault weapon crime, statistics prove that we can dry up the supply of these guns, making them less accessible to criminals. We urge you to listen to the American public and to the law enforcement community and support a ban on the further manufacture of these weapons,” the letter said concluding.

Even the gipper!!!

Not gonna comment on the repercussions and political wrangling that ensued, Brady Bill ETC. The statement that he made was self explanatory. The term "Gun Violence" is a double edge sword. Of course there will be violence! Look what "Fist Violence" did to Cassius Clay, I mean, Muhammad Ali. Speaking of "sound bites", see how you do in this test.....:icon_thumleft:

How did Ronnie feel after he was shot? Did he have a change of heart?

That incident lead directly to the do called Brady bill.

I just find it very funny that the idol of the conservative movement (and who I think has been the best prez in my lifetime) was prob responsible for getting the federal assault weapons ban passed. Was the Gipper clueless, just didnt get it, a liberal, unconstitutional?? How does one reconcile this? Would live to hear any thoughts.

Maybe a conservative can also believe in some form of gun control / regulation?? Thoughts.
