Good find Terry. Interested to see the argument against.

Real good vid I thought. Whether one agrees with the conclusions or not he has good stats. Totally agree on the jobs, education, etc part. People with good educations, jobs etc generally do not become gang bangers or harden criminals. Good post.

Two comments, and thats it huh.

Finally some unbiased data. I think its time we stopped blaming the guns and started blaming the gun users.
The recent tragedy was heartbreaking. I cried and prayed for those families. I'm tired of how the media wants to portray those who are fighting for our 2nd amendment rights as uncaring, unfeeling people who just want to go out an kill everything. Our forefathers fought and died for our rights and felt so strongly about them, they were placed in our Constitution. If you can hear a story like the tragedy about those children, and not be heartsick, you're not human. However, in my opinion, tragic events like that will not be avoided by adding more government regulations on law abiding citizens. Bad people will always find a way to do bad things if that is their choice. Our prisons are full of them (but that's a soapbox for another day). There is not, and never will be, Utopia here. The issue isn't guns, it isn't ammunition and it isn't clips. The issue is people and it will always be people. There will always be people who choose to be evil, no matter what the government tries to do to regulate it. They want to track ammunition. Really? Everyone roll up your sleeve, here comes the microchip. I say that in jest.....but only sort of.

Thanks for giving me a turn on the soapbox.

Is anybody else paying attention, theres the stats what else do you want. Utopian society is a pipe dream!

The issue is people and it will always be people.
Thank you Carla705, please get back on that soapbox and shout that sh/t to our corrupt ignorant politicians. I, for one, would be most appreciative. :laughing7:
I will be doing the same.

Never heard it put that way, but I like it!

Terry thanks for the vid and posting. It seems there is a problem with just these small pockets of people. They seem to be expanding and multiplying. Perhaps legislature could find a way to punish those that would think/do wrong and evil, instead of lumping everyone, into the same bucket.

I think alot of people are just tired of all the gun talk. I am not one of them, but you can see what the media and polititians do, they bring something up and it brings alot of people out on both sides and they fight about it. After a while people get sick of it and avoid the whole debate and this is when Washington pushes stupid bills when no one is watching. The universal health care was very simular, it was talked about for a couple years and people got tired of fighting about it and alot of people said the government is going to do what it wants to do. The average person doesn't seem to care much about problems unless it has something to do with them and even then alot of them will give up after a while. It is sad up alot of Americans just ignore politics and are ignorant to anything that is going on in the country or world unless it some how involves them.

I attended a city meeting about a freeway expansion (Taking 88 homes out of the tax structure ) First meeting 200 plus people 2nd one maybe half 3rd 4th 5th less then 20 When I called them out their reply (Not enough people rejecting this plan)

Its just a bunch of crap, the government knows people don't like spending time with issues. Its like everone has ADD and wont pay attention for more then a few minutes. People say they care about these issues but they don't do anything to try and help there cause and then they complain when it doesn't go the way they wanted to. People have to pay attention.

What do you think those stats show? I noticed quite a few countries missing from that list: Canada, mexico, japan, france, germany, belgium, spain, protugal, england, austrailia, china, holland, italy, egypt, nigeria, columbia, chile...need I go on?

Most of the countries on that list are third world countries. Yeah! We have lower murder rates than third world countries! That is not exactly something to be proud of.

This is a great example of how to manipulate and lie with statistics. Now that we have seen all the countries with higher murder rates than USA...lets take a look at all of those with lower murder rates.

Found it... here is a link to all the countries with lower homicide rates. I think there were 90 or so.

List of countries by intentional homicide rate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You know what these statistics prove? Nothing, not a single thing.

Umm, does it prove Wikipedia is correct? There is a war going on in Afghanistan, and it says the intentional homicide rate is less than 3-percent? The point to my post is very simple..

Never, ever, believe what a politician (or Wikipedia) tells you. Go find out for yourself.

It is a list of countries with higher murder rates than the US, where guns are totally banned.

that means guns are banned there, and their murder rates are higher than the United States.

No one is lying.

Check out this Harvard study on the subject.

Gold you need to look at the diff between correlation and causality when quoting stats or one can make big mistakes. And as I'm sure someone else has already stated one can make stats prove just about anything. .

That is a good source, agreed. However, nobody on this site that I have met wants to ban guns. I'm probably the most liberal and all I want to do is talk compromise and limits.
