coyote management

Yeah I read ur pm and I agree w/u to a certain extent, but im not going to sit by and take flack from a bunch of right wing fanatics because they just hate to see a poor creature suffer. Point in case I went turkey hunting yesterday and called up a coyote. I couldn't get a shot because of the range but the rattlesnake I walked up on wasn't so lucky. 4' 2" with 17 rattlers n a button, but some people would say just let him be. Well I say give me your address and ill ship him right to ya then b/c if he stays here then....bam! They do taste like chicken though ;)

i have a couple friends from england and you need to understand hunting is not a big thing over there and has not been for a very long time, the youth over there , hell maybe even the adults have no concept of what it feels like to hunt, it is not all about " the kill "
sorry i am rambling and will shut up. before i start on about the gun laws over seas,,,lol

Kuger...

Just my opinion, sorry if you don't like it!
No I don't use Decon... I use cats!:laughing7:
I just wouldn't want the possibility of hurting any other animal besides my target.
We are the caretakers... I wouldn't want a failing grade!

..your opinion is mis informed, and thats what I strive for....knowledge of what I speak.I always see things from both sides.I see Silver Searcher as a personal friend....we didnt start out that way,but he was open minded enough to listen and be informed, and understand. That is more than most can say!!!As far as him being in another country, lives, and morals are not separated by lines,or water.

How many wild song birds have your beloved cats killed for sport ?

My "beloved cats" has never killed any song birds... I'm a great caretaker!!

No I'm not "mis informed"... you're not taking to a person who is a dumb a**!
But, I do have my opinions about wildlife.. like I said, "sorry if you don't like it"!

Unlesss your cat never leaves the house that is a LIE.I never said you were a dumbazz and you know I respect you, however,I would expect you to base your opinions on educated fact.Your remark is irresponsible and un fair. There is no more of a "caretaker",for all living creature than myself and I guarantee you that.As you know my life has been dedicated to everything there is to do with them.
....again,I will not look back at this thread,I am done

Oh my.. I see my point of view isn't always popular... but it is mind!
I don't lie , Mr. Kuger! If I tell you a stop sign is blue.. you better take a second look.

To prove a point... I have never seen a song bird in my house... or a mouse.:laughing7:

You keep talking about "educated fact"... If someone states what they believe to be an educated fact, does this mean I must agree with them?
I base my opinions on my personal experience which spans 65 years. Yes, I may be wrong in many of my beliefs?
But I don't believe everything someone tells me either, I try to use my best judgement to form my own opinions.

rattlesnakes are a federal protected species...
seems many people just don't care about anything past their nose...
until the seventh generation...

Aldo Leopold change his opinion on killing of predator species...read up..

And I'm not a tree hugging hippie either, I know quite a lot about hunting, perhaps not the type that's done over there.

Kind of amazing that no one has mentioned the fact that Coyotes are nothing but killing machines. Hunted all my life in Indiana. When I was younger we had quail, pheasant, Red and Gray fox every where. They are literally all gone. Ground nesting birds are easy pickins and the fox has been killed off simple because they compete for the food and habitat. The only ground dwelling small game that has survived the growing population of coyotes here is the rabbit. Coyotes kill new born whitetail fawns and newborn calf's and they are very efficient at it. I've seen whole coop of chickens killed in one night and only a few carried off. Any of you bunny huggers care bout that. Kugar hit the nail on the head with every one of his comments. I have trapped and called coyotes for many farmers round here. The county use to pay a bounty for them years ago, you can kill them year round with landowner permission. Sure there will always be that story about someone's poor pet getting caught in a trap or snare but if used correctly the chances of actually killing a non target animals are minimized. If your pet Bow Wow is running the rural farm lands round here during deer season, chances are he may not make it home for dinner. Once established it's almost impossible to remove all of them. In an earlier post it was said coyotes bread at will. Well I'm pretty sure they mate once a year, they pair up in Jan/Feb, mate and drop the pups bout now. The best call to use during late spring early summer is a coyote pup distress call. Female yotes can't resist. Late summer early fall calling is most productive around here as the young ones are not as willy as the ones that make it through the first year. Populations are a problem here right now and about every hunter I know will gladly contribute to the control. Every dead Yote means many more small game animals and livestock live.

This was how my father in laws German Shephard sprained its ankle. She fought it and panicked and it chewed up her ankle and sprained it badly. Big vet bills . Was a neighbors trap in the mountains

A cable snare is a loop of multi-strand aircraft cable that has a loop that is hung in a trail the target animal is using. The loop tightens around the animals neck as it passes through, and they are held unharmed until released or dispatched. The size of the loop, and the height off the ground makes a fairly species specific trap.

If your father in law's dog's foot was harmed, it wasn't in a neck type snare.

It always amazes me how people let their dogs run wild, and then complain when they get in trouble. Even the best dog, if left un-supervised will eventually get in trouble.

They chase and kill all manner of wild life, and it's not their fault, they are just doing what dogs do. The sad fact is that many are shot chasing deer, livestock, etc. and they could be home, safe in a kennel. Dog's like the security of a kennel, and as long as they are exercised daily, they are happy.

My son knew a guy that when driving and seeing an animal would swerve to attempt to kill it. Seems it didn't matter what kind of animal it was. I never understood why some just have to kill what ever is in front of them. The coyote problem is a balance problem with humans to blame. Where are the coyote's natural predators?
Killing a snake just because it there is part of the problem. The killers hate life. The Hopi have a saying, "Ko ya nis quase" Close as I can spell it. Translates to "World out of balance"
The Yaqui Indians have said the animals you kill recklessly wait on the other side where you are powerless.

Maybe you could explain why the coyote problem is a balance problem??? I know the coyote's in Indiana have only one predator "Humans" to keep things balanced.

Injuns down n down n bama have saying.....if it rattles throw it in the pot n make ya a nice pair of boots or a belt. Maybe a pair of gloves or a vest out of the coyote!! I've tried the snair tactic but they catch on quick down here...
