Hunt 7 & 8 at old cellar hole in PA park woods. This site has given up the most large coppers of any site for me at 11 coppers from KG’s up to Braided Hair’s. Digging the super iffy signals, pulling out nails are leading to lots more good targets. Very concentrated area around 10’x20’ giving up the majority of the finds, about 10’ from the cellar hole.

Anyone know what the larger copper piece is with crescent shape in the miscellaneous handful?

Super fun site! Thx

great saves all around, wtg

Good day of digging, getting a few more coppers from the site.
I would say the crescent shaped item is a strap end.
Very nice recovery

Lens is trying to make an axe head out of it.
Does the convex side of the crescent look/feel like it ever had an edge?

Small for an axe. If not an axe per se, some other cutting/chopping tool?

Congrats on the homesite items. Curious what kind of button is this one you found?

Thanks. Initially, I thought it was the back of a two piece button, however, since there is no back Mark I’m thinking that it was filled with glass or something else on the front. The back looks like a traditional shank.

Thanks. It is heavy brass, and the crescent shape is rounded similar to a typical buckle frame of this timeframe.

Yeah, I'd say brass rules out a bladed tool.

I wouldn't know about the rest or the timeframe. I've not seen many "typical" buckle frames, much less a crescent-shaped buckle frame with a plate attached to it.

Curious what it turns out to be. :laughing7:
