Piece in back exposed some copper. This was found behind park near old homestead. Didn’t find much today. Looked up to see what its use was, said craft projects. Anyway to tell what it was used for? Leather?
It's to set a crucible on for smelting metals

Interesting. I was looking for pics, I don’t know what you would call it. Just seeing if it matches up possibly
If a grommet, there should be a groove around the edge. I can’t tell in the photos if it has one.

Canvas covered wagons and tent cabins were widely used in the early days.

In later years many recreational cabins were basically canvas tents.

No other light weight material was available.

I just bought a canvas tent and it still has grommets! Should last the rest of my life. Canvas tarp for a floor (w/grommets).

Grommets were on everything camping. Still on modern nylon tarps today.
