Coinstar Finds

I've only found (in total looking for about 4-6 years now or so) half a dozen steelies or so, 5+ silver dimes, wheat penny, and one time i found over 6$ in clad. I was at the coin star in a city next to me with my grandparents (pizza place for my birthday or something) and we walked over to the store and I checked it, and there was a pile up to the brim of coins. Ever since then, I've never found anything there. That was a good 3-4 years ago, lol.

I heard about in a article (April '08 or '09 I believe) of Coins Magazine that a guy found a Gold Sovereign in the reject. Ever since I've been looking ever chance I have o.o

Found this two little jewels a minute ago!!!

found a 1933 canada george v nickel 3 days ago as well as a mex. 1 peso and a half peso right on top of the shelf! and a few weeks ago i found a steel cent a u.a.e. 1 dirham and a '88 canada nickel!

Here's one of only 2 known '44s steel cents- finest known in ms66. Look at the price tag on that one, baby! Sold in a Heritage auction. I think it's the most ever paid for a Lincoln cent.

Think the 74 aluminum cent got it beat

Last year my oldest foreign coinstar find was a Swiss 10 rappen from 1957. A 1951 Belgian franc topped it today, only 37 days into the new year. :icon_thumright:

I got 5 damaged zincolns today.

Not exactly a "find" per say, but I did figure something out about coinstar today that I'll use in the future...

I'm an Amazon Prime member, and use it at least once a week for ordering stuff. From now on, whenever I get ready to place an order, I'll go get enough halves or dimes to cover the purchase, check them and then just dump them at Coinstar. The Coinstar machine will give you full face value for giftcards! I bet I order $4-5k a year from Amazon. Be a nice bump for the bank roll, so to speak!

I must have the dumbest beginners luck I ever heard of. After learning about Coinstar hunting on this thread I decided to try it out at a couple local machines. On my third machine I found 77 coins!!! Not in the reject slot or underneath but in the little trash can next to it where everybody throws their discarded bags that they used to transport their coins.

I am not sure if it was the result of some sort of clean out (there were metal shavings under the machine that suggested some sort of recent repair) but here are the totals:

1 1957 Rosie
$2.24 US clad
$1.80 Canadian
$0.13 Euro
$0.06 British
$3.50 Pesos
$16 Francs
17 various coins of unknown origin and value

I almost want to quit while I am ahead because I have a feeling I am going to be chasing this ghost for the rest of my life but let's be honest I will check that machine (and that trash can) every single time.

Wow, epic win! That last pic includes coins from Japan, China, Thailand and the Philippines :)

Whenever I am in a Kroger or Meijers I check out the Coinstar.

If I find anything it is 1-2 Canadians pennies.

Today I found my first Coinstar silver

1957D FDR dime

1943 Steel penny

I know people love the no fee giftcard option, but if you buy a substantial amount from amazon, you need to get the credit card. the 5% reward is better than the return on your coin hunting will likely be.

Found a nice 1.27 today which included a Steelie!

I work at a store that has a coinstar-like machine in it. Have never found a silver and I check it every night I work at 10 pm. Unfortunately, the person who deposit's the stores money into the safe and cashes the "coinstar" receipts (and buys all the silvers from there) also checks the machine periodically throughout his shift. Did I mention he works at a bank? Lucky pirate...

:censored:i need to buy a bunch of little wastebaskets and put them next to machines!:occasion14:

Best investment ever. I saw a guy using a coinstar today. He reached down every time a coin hit the reject tray. And they hit a lot. I should have offered to buy what he had. Damn you, introverted self!

Man I was at work I was walking by the coinstar as someone was using it. I heard a reject went back 10minutes later and it was gone. The reject tray is in the middle of the coinstar correct?
