Detector(s) used
Minelab E-Trac and Whites MXT
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
After each of my detecting outings I throw my clad into a plastic bin that I have on my work bench. It's been about 19 months, but it finally filled up and it is time to take it to the bank. Fortunately, the credit union I am a member of has a coin counting machine that we can use for free. (Basically it's a Coinstar with no fees).

I was looking at the pile of clad and trying to guess how much it would total. That's when I thought that it would be kind of fun and interesting to see how close someone could come to guessing how much is there.

So, here is a contest. Take a look at the pictures below of the pile of clad. Come up with your best guess as to how much it will total, and respond to this thread with your answer. Please, only one guess per person. I will take all guesses that are given before Tuesday, 10-07-14 at 11:59 pm, PST. Whoever comes closest to the actual total amount will get a little prize. I'll send the winner a few older coins, including a 1914s Barber dime, a 1901 Liberty head "V" nickel, and an 1898 Indian head penny. Nothing of significant value, but this is just for fun anyway.

I know in the pile there are a few dollar coins. Otherwise it's quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies including zincs.

This is a cool contest, thanks for having it and congrats on such a large haul over time. My guess:

$148.79

I've found a lot of clad the last couple of years and I think it's close to $400.00.

It certainly was good times, but after looking at that pile I realized why my knees have gone down hill so quickly over the past couple of years!

The Guess

I would have to give a wild guess of 233.17 (off-the-wall but worth a try). Also, that is one hell of a pile of clad which is a testament to your loyalty to the hobby.

151.14 Only because someone else guessed within .12 of my first guess. Nice pile of clad. Where is the photo of the pile of Silver you were sure to have found along with all the clad? Very interesting way to share your finds. I like it!
