I am still in shock. Never would I believe something like this would happen to me. Did a late evening hunt with a friend from Tnet which only lasted about 45 min. As you can see I only found a mini ball and flat button until I came upon this cache. We both were speechless, good thing she decided to video tonights dig. This is the second cache of coins found on this property mixed in with all the civil war relics. First spill was nothing like this, maybe 10 coins. So walking along the woods edge of a corn field I got this ear blowing signal, pinpointed about 3 ft long but narrow I almost skipped it. At a park with the signal that large I surely would have ignored it. Ended up with a cut finger and 64 silver coins. 1 Morgan dollar, 8 Reale, 12 Halfs, 11 Quarters and 39 dimes. I havnt checked for any key dates and most look to be in good shape. I'm amazed over this 8 Reale, looks to be 1830 Zs. Checked off the bucket list:headbang: Like I said Ive heard stories of people finding caches but never dreamed my coil would get over one. Thanks for looking GL&HH

3' long target, narrow, assuming crazy high tone. Man I have those all the time in the woods where I hunt. I never dig them, when I do they are typically brass pipes (lots of old oil field 3" pipes abandoned in the woods). I'm guessing that the signals where not beer can strong, like you can swing 18-24" above the dirt and still get a great signal. It's all about intuition and a large dose of luck, some research and talent. Congrats, congrats, congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you pa-dirt_nc-sand. This site being a old homestead/ civil war camp I tend to dig all repeatable signals. The past few weeks hitting up other properties ive heard the same VDI and as usual aluminum can ect. Just as you said Its all about intuition, using some common sense( which isn't common anymore) and research. Old farms and homesteads have a better probability of caches due to depressions and people just not trusting banks back in the day. At a public park Good luck, every other signal is a ear blowing alumn can. This cache rang up 91-92 on the AT Pro. Like a half dollar

Wow I would have literally passed out. I found a 1829 Spanish Mexican 8 Reales. It's in excellent shape, my oldest find and I pride and joy. I'll be buried with that thing. Found it in a sidewalk stripe :)

There is a 1916 Merc in the pile. Did you ever say if it had a D mint mark? That would ice the cake proper like

That would have been icing on the cake but there is no mint mark. Just a 1916 philly

Thank you Lisa and John. I'm still speechless LOL. I have them all in a display case as a cache find. I find myself jaw dropped every time I go through the coins.

Thank you Truth1253. Congrats on your 8 reales. It feels good to be in the club. Being I'm located in Maryland we tend to find some older coins here and there. My oldest is a 1680 maravedis hammered cob. I found 2 of them while sifting a cellar hole of a old mill site. Cant wait till harvest to get back to that site, its on farm land.

1680 is just incredible. Maryland must be great to detect with old history like that. Here's my pride and joy. When I found her it was solid black and I mean solid black. upload1497310445.094359.jpgupload1497310468.001693.jpg

Wow Very nice detail left on that beauty. I bet your heart skipped a beat when you saw that pop out a sidewalk strip. How did you clean it up? Mine had some thick black around the edges and rim. I normally use lemon juice on silvers.
