1861 is a bit early for our Frank, I'd think. If this actually did take place in 1936, he would have been 75 years old. Also, Racine is a pretty good stretch (281 miles on today's roads) from Chippewa Falls. Neither fact makes it impossible, but I would say that both make it unlikely that this is the same guy.

Another possibility (as if we needed another one!) is that our man was simply using the phonetic spelling. It could have been spelled Hubacek and still have been pronounced "check".

Frank, Jr. perhaps?

This is definitely one of the coolest finds I've seen posted here.

I think I would make good clear photocopies of the notes and take those with the closest transcription to the local historic society. I'll definitely keep watching this one to see what comes of it. There's got to be an Investigation Discovery show worthy story behind it

Frank R. Was an attorney, his son, Frank B. was also an attorney and later became vice president of the Art Institute of Chicago.

The Frank Hubechek listed as a servant for John Wagner is an entirely different person.

One thing of note I did find, is that John Wagnor (Wagner) was a butcher, son of Frank H Wagner, also a butcher.

Confusing, isn't it? Lol

I think it is log cabin instead of log coffin. If you enlarge the picture there are not two fs in the word. And I think the one paragraph might read: Drunk, Rolland came to log cabin saying Me, green horn wanted to steal his cottage and everything.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone noticed the numbers under Harriet Jangs name are an Illinois SS#? Is there some way to trace that ( not that it would be a great help, just may at least help identify one person here).

I think I see 361 27 78 23 (1st could be simply 36 and a smudge). Are you thinking 36-27-7823?

361-27-7823 ....if indeed it is a SS#, could be figures...but I don't see any other numbers that would relate.. :dontknow:

transfered to the one where the bottle was found.
