I just went to this New site and above 12 inches down or more I got this round medallion which has a shield and stars on it and before I wet it I think I saw a soldier with a sword going in the shield but I could be wrong. Now I can?t seem to Recognize as much on it. Any help would be appreciated it?s 73.8 mm

I have had success laying a crud covered coin on the dash of my truck siting in the sun for several hours, then putting it in the freezer for a couple hours. The expansion and contraction of the metal may cause the crud to turn loose.

Hey that makes sense

And the crazy thing is also when I was 14 I lost my virginity at the 1984 World?s Fair in New Orleans and now I broke my cherry digging a 1884-5 World?s Fair memory [emoji1360]

you had a cherry ? ? ?

:P

AARC In your opinion what would you do if this was yours to bring out more of the detail? Renaissance wax anything like that?

Me... I would just wash and let dry for now.

That is really close on AARCs post. Same general figures... I also think it's too large for clothing, hats, or harness. Cool find Truth!

Close yes... but no cigar. :)

Glad to see this one pinned down.

Great find, and it looks like a great I.D.
If I had found that, I'd be doing several short soaks in an electrolysis bath, with gentle brushing in between.
But that's just me....I'd want all that crud off.

I?ve had it under electrolysis for about a week and it?s getting a little better but I need to find out what would be the best way of cleaning it? image-2021-08-20-21:33:59-219.webp
