I just went to this New site and above 12 inches down or more I got this round medallion which has a shield and stars on it and before I wet it I think I saw a soldier with a sword going in the shield but I could be wrong. Now I can?t seem to Recognize as much on it. Any help would be appreciated it?s 73.8 mm

Still a patriotic seal... badge... emblem... medal... shall i continue ? ? ?

:P

Truth... its rare... IMO of course.. at this point i can say this... I have never seen one... and the closest i could think of was what i posted.

NOW... that being said... i have by no means "seen it all"...

BUT... i have seen enough to know this is a killer find. AND,,, its a "patriotic" piece.

:)

PS... i only get involved when something "catches me".... and this caught me... hook line and sinker.

Super cool and i smell a banner find is very possible with this.

AARC In your opinion what would you do if this was yours to bring out more of the detail? Renaissance wax anything like that?

That is really close on AARCs post. Same general figures... I also think it's too large for clothing, hats, or harness. Cool find Truth!

I starting to think it might a seal of some type-corporation seal are smaller 1 5/8".

Though there are seals that made larger.

Looks similar to "Daughters of Liberty" type memorabilia.

invent4hir Look at it again I think I see 1884

If it does say 1884, it could very well be a comparative piece/souvenir from the Statue of Liberty.

I have had success laying a crud covered coin on the dash of my truck siting in the sun for several hours, then putting it in the freezer for a couple hours. The expansion and contraction of the metal may cause the crud to turn loose.

And the crazy thing is also when I was 14 I lost my virginity at the 1984 World?s Fair in New Orleans and now I broke my cherry digging a 1884-5 World?s Fair memory [emoji1360]

... in the freezer? The last thing I remember is you lost some coinage, you better go check under the ice cream bucket...
