chagy --your right -- latin cultrue based type folks say -- joe americano --- which means "joe ( born in or "of / from" his birthplace ) america --- in that vein--- jesus narazano --- means jesus (born in --or "of / from" his birth place ) nazareth .---since its impled "or generally known by speakers of the language" its not written out per si that way in detail -- so I used (brackets) to help explain it for folks who do not speak or understand latin based spanish speach patterns -- the thought process of the spanish language which determines how it is spoken and written are both based upon the old latin word style useages -- since latin is of course the "mother tongue" from which modern spanish is derived .

I understand that the archaeic Spanish used 300 years ago is a little more complex. Mel Fisher's guy was good at it.
There are a few others, but I think a study of the language as used 300 years ago is in order if you want to find the answer to your question.

look at the letter --spotswood uses "barcalongo" highly similar to "barca - longo" only the "-" is missing -- barca longo is according to wikipedia --- is a two to three masted "lugger" type vessel --a smallish very fast sailing type of fishing vessel --often used as mail /messenger or "dispatch" vessels as the english would say during the time frame --- the spanish often used the terms "frigitilla" or small fragata to mean these small fast type of vessels --adviso or "advice" boat was also used as they carried messages or "advice" back and forth.--- I think my wreck might very well be the "fragata" sent from havana -- along with the 7 blandra (sloop type) vessels
