Barry Storm's Mr. X

The San Carlos Apache (Western Apache) do not try to explain how they came into existence. Their history begins with the four separate sub families all coming simply, "from the north", and each settling a different part of central Arizona. The fifth sub family of the Western Apache, the Apache Peaks family are a split off of the Pinal Apache family. The five western Apache families are,... The San Carlos, the Pinal, the Tonto, the Arivaipa and the Apache Peaks. All of these families believe in the slayer of monsters story where a mother digs a cave to hide her son who eventually emerges from the cave and slays the dragon monster and allows the Apache to become the dominant beings on the earth.

I believe the boy never slain the dragon monster. The boy lost his mother and her protection after dragon's attack, and then the boy came out and call the dragon to a life and death combat. The dragon who believed was the most fearest on the world, was surprised by the brave boy and for the first time felt what means fear. The thunderous voice of the boy calling it out for combat, made the dragon to retreat silently and to vanish in unknown places.
The boy slain the dragon only in one of his dreams, but is still searching for it.

markmar,

Apache legend tells slayer of monsters killed dragon monster with 3 lightning arrows, then killed Horned monster and later Rock monster eagle. I have not heard the story slayer did not kill the monsters.

Re: Apache creation stories - I'm not any kind of expert. I'm 1/2 white, Christian & only know what I've been told by Apache friends & relatives. However, today Apache groups are mixed, like most everyone on Earth so everything gets tangled. There's countless versions of Christianity & Apache lore is just as mixed.

Travis by his own words said he power washed them at a car wash. I would imagine the same holds true then as now. You can remove hundreds of years with a good power wash. Hell they make things hundreds of years old look new in museums which they are in a Museum are they not. And parts of the museum stones are replica’s. If you are not looking at the original’s how can you make a sound judgment.

Any kind of "patina" stain in sandstone is going to soak deep into the rock like an oil stain on a concrete driveway Power washing sandstone is just going to tear it up. If the story is true, and that's a big "if", he said he rinsed them off with a water hose at a gas station. No power washing was in the story. The kind of rock the museum stones are made of is found all over the south Texas area where Travis's family lives. Nothing but sandstone in South Texas. I'm not even 40 miles away from Stockdale.

Hello txtea,I want to clarify on what my idea of the "patina" is. It also goes by the name "Desert Varinsh'. If your a rock collector your very familiar with how hard it is to remove...in fact next to impossible, and yes I do agree with you on this also.

So Dave we agree on something, Trail Map is Fake. But paired with the real Heart Stone.
and the other trail map to the Heart Stone is safe and sound and Varnished like the Heart Stone in the pic.

Babymick1 you all can’t back peddle now.

real heart stone?...there is no real heart stone...travis carved all those doorstops...and probably many other copies....mick.. nobody is going to believe anything you say until you have proof those silly maps have actually led someone to a mine (and i don't mean a hole in the ground)..i'm talking about a mine that has gold in it and plenty of it....nobody has ever RECOVERED a treasure using those maps....(notice recovered is capitalized)....i have seen a hundred empty holes and barren caves that guys like you said the maps led them to...but they never got anything out of them...

Dave

Don’t forget the Varnish. Which is what you were talking about.
There’s copies and one varnished set of stones.

Which brings me back to Matthew’s post. The black tape over some symbols on the maps wasn’t to hide the symbols, it was put there so no one would notice they were changed.
Mitchell wasn’t sure if Travis showed them to others before he bought them. So when AZ stepped in to take them he gave them the fakes.

I think you're interpreting "varnish" in a completely different way than others here are talking about "desert varnish."

what varnish?...its probably just camera angles...or a different camera ...who cares about varnish mick...that has nothing to do with anything....show me someone that has profited from the doorstops...and i don't mean con men..i mean someone that recovered anything of value using them

I don’t think so, The calcite reaction to moisture turns lime stone black and the silica in the sand stone creates the Varnish shine. So when you take a picture it creates light bounces off one part and not the other which creates those stark vibrant colors in photos you see in the Supers.

The trail map in the pic has never been anywhere but in the Museum

mick...drop the varnish ....everyone here has tried to explain to you it isn't varnish but you wont comprehend...nobody cares about the varnish...all we care about is proof and you have none except what you manufacture...(gold painted 2x4's and gold plated nuggets)...produce proof and we might listen to you:icon_scratch:
