Barry Storm's Mr. X

I find these Lost Dutchman Mine threads amusing & watch them wildly drift. Didn't this start out trying to figure out who had small feet? Tex Barkley had small feet for his size, Brownie Holmes was a small man & had small feet. Barkley didn't like all the treasure hunters wandering around messing up his ranch & was known for messing w/ clues. Holmes was just a screwball. Who shot @ who? Who cares, they're all gone now to be replaced by other screwballs. The Apache sacred cave is close to the mine, those who look after the cave now know the mine was worked out in the 1800's. Waltzes seemingly contradictory directions get all mixed up because some of them send you toward caches, not the mine. You want to find gold look for caches. I know & am related to some cave watchers but haven't been there in decades. No, I won't take you there, sell a map, give directions, etc. I did my Sup wandering decades ago when I was much younger. Now everyone can start flaming me...

Bro

Your story is just not true. Their is no one watching the cave it’s folklore.

My memory is fading on me one day at a time, but wasn't there some story about Ed Piper being allowed to camp and dig around the Weaver's Needle area in the 50's or 60's but had a "deal" with the Apache (or at least some Native Americans) that he had to leave the mountains on a certain date each year. I don't remember it having anything to do with treasures per se' but rather sacred location(s) and ceremonies they held. Is that related to the cave you're speaking about?

Geez Mick - you believe all the stuff you post, but someone comes along with no claims of treasure or anything and you don't at least wonder if it's true? I wouldn't be at all surprised to find that there is a cave or some sort of location somewhere in those mountains that's held sacred by Native Americans - and it may even have a few Native American artifacts still there. When someone says it's being "watched over" I don't take that to mean there's someone there 24/7/365 hiding out ready to kill someone who stumbles on it, but it wouldn't shock me to know a few times a year someone(s) may visit the area and check to make sure it's still "hidden" in whatever way it's hidden.

It wasn't that many years ago that a "sacred cave" on San Carlos was looted of bows and other items.

His post is one of the LESS embellished and more reasonable ones I've seen about something of interest out there - hard to believe you just toss it out there that it's not true - in fact, it's actually something neither you nor I CAN prove

There is a cave held sacred there, But it’s not watched by cave keepers and you are right about Piper leaving on a certain day.

Cubfan

Once a year the arm of the Thunder God comes out of the cave. Or the arm of God to the Jesuits.

I have a picture of it, won’t share it yet. Later maybe.

I don't know if Piper had a deal w/ the Apaches but Glenn Magill did, he mentions it in his book The Killer Mountains. It's the same cave I mentioned. There are ceremonies held every year relating to the ancient belief they came out of the underworld there. Magill agreed to be away certain times, as a halfbreed I wasn't allowed to attend the ceremonies either, I was trusted to help keep others away. For the record no sacred objects are kept in the cave now.

Sad as I'm sure it is for the Native's who respect that area, it's a wise move making sure there is nothing there anymore - it doesn't take much for stuff to disappear out there :(

I'm not familiar w/ that show, we don't watch tv. Phillip Cassadore was an Haataali (shaman, medicine man) & likely knew exactly what he was talking about. I believe he died but I saw some of his relatives on San Carlos Res recently (granddaughters I think). I never entered the cave out of respect for their beliefs, although I'm Christian I respect their religion.

Hi Dave, I have a copy of that somewhere and will have to re-watch it for that part. I think there was a story about a cave somewhere that you had to pass 2 rattlesnakes or something like that to get in too. The name Cassadore is a San Carlos family name.

Exactly, @ one time some things were cached @ various sites (I know locations but won't describe them) but some people have no respect & tear up everything.

Howdy Injunbro,

So this sacred cave you speak of, would not be what Waltz claimed to have covered up? Thanks in advance.

Power wash OR not....You DON'T just spray away "desert Varnish" The patina like stains I mentioned that are missing on these maps. Thats because they NEVER had stains on them. Prefabricated 100% manufactured for deception only.

The Western Apache, Mescalero and the Chiricahua Apache do not have an emergence story of creation. Only the Jicarilla and the Lipan Apache believe in the emergence from the underworld. All believe in Kuterastan (Usen) the creator of earth and slayer of monsters, a boy who hid in a cave dug by his mother and emerged from it to kill dragon (monster) and made his people the Apache the Supreme life force on the earth.

The San Carlos Apache (Western Apache) do not try to explain how they came into existence. Their history begins with the four separate sub families all coming simply, "from the north", and each settling a different part of central Arizona. The fifth sub family of the Western Apache, the Apache Peaks family are a split off of the Pinal Apache family. The five western Apache families are,... The San Carlos, the Pinal, the Tonto, the Arivaipa and the Apache Peaks. All of these families believe in the slayer of monsters story where a mother digs a cave to hide her son who eventually emerges from the cave and slays the dragon monster and allows the Apache to become the dominant beings on the earth.
