Avagos Goodies

This week was an interesting one... First box of the week contained one '64 and four 40% and that was all the silver for the week.

A couple notables: Found a 1987-D and a 1982-P no "FG"! (pic below)

I was also able to pull six nice clad proofs: 1980-S, 1983-S, 1984-S, 1988-S, 1991-S, 2005-S

I got to go through all of the Ikes I picked up in the last week, right around $2000 of them. In the last $80 worth, I scored what I believe to be TWO 1972 Type-2 dollars. They're a first for me after many many Eisenhowers. Might be tough to tell in the pics though. I will need to look into a better method for capturing details like these. I also kept a 1978-S clad proof that's soaking now.

Sorry to hear about you having a good half dollar box and then nothing after that, but you found some nice notable non-silver coins!! Good luck next week :)

Made it into the "L"CS to sell all of my Ikes... the best (and only) offer I was able to find was for $1.02 each. I ended up selling all 2400 of them and with the profit I got three .999 rounds @$18.50 with a little change. I wasn't able to find much info on them. Does anybody know anything about these?

I don't know anything about the rounds, but they are probably just generic, which generally means that they carry a minimal premium. Either way, you made out well, dumping 2400 ikes, making $48 and only having to shell out $7.50 of your own money for 3 oz of silver... The rounds look cool though :)

Great snag.

Boxes were tough this week... 7/8 were skunks. I managed to extend my longest skunk streak of the year to 11 straight boxes, which was then broken by a box containing four 40% and my first silver commemorative, a 1982 George Washington 250th Anniversary proof. It's not pretty, but I'll take it!

Well at least one box saved your week, congratulations on your first silver commemorative! I've always liked the design of that half dollar.

Eight boxes this week yielded two 90% including a '62-D Franklin and four 40% as well as a 1987-D. Not spectacular but I'll take an ounce.

Not bad...much better than skunks. Congrats on finding a ben.

Eight boxes this week yielded just one 40%... really rough hunting. I'll be taking next week off. The silver is super slow so I figure it's a good time to give my pickups and dumps a chance to cool off. Good luck everyone else!

Do you ask for "customer rolled" when you go to the bank? I have been through several boxes with nothing to show for it...they all seem to be bank rolled. Am I going about it the wrong way?

15 boxes this week gave me 2 walkers and 4 40%... 13 boxes were skunks. Good luck with yours.

It's great to find Walkers but still, for that volume the finds should be better. I'll likely have similar results this week (on the skunky side). We'll see!

Ended up with the second best week of the year in terms of silver oz (2.78) and tied for best week in number of silvers (13).

Eight boxes this week yielded four skunks as well as two boxes with one 40% each, one box with four 40%, and the best box had three 40% and four 90% including two '64, one '62 Franklin and one '43 Walker.

Nice little silver vein this week, I hope it keeps up!

Hey all, not as great a week this week in terms of oz/silvers but I did have a couple of neat finds. We scored our second commemorative half in a month's time, an 1893 Columbian Exposition from a box. The rest of the boxes this week yielded another 90% and three 40%.

Also did a quick drop-by at a bank and picked up $19 in loose halves and scored three 40% including a NIFC 1970-S silver half. I've got both the D and S for 1970 now. Also pulled an 80% Canadian dime from a reject chute :)

Unfortunately for me, all of my boxes this week have a code that hasn't produced a single silver for me yet this year so my hopes are not high. Hoping to go on a mini road trip this Tuesday to compensate!

Had a great week for boxes, best of the year so far. Ended the 8 box week with two 90% and 17 40% at 3.24 oz. Our best box had seven 40% that had two triple-silver rolls. We also recorded our longest silver streak for the year at 6. What's the most astonishing is that the best week of the year came from boxes that up to this point had produced ZERO silvers in 40 prior boxes. I also found a wild toner proof in one of the rolls.

We also went on a mini road trip last week. We picked up about $180 loose that yielded just one 40%. Out of the $1070 CWR and $100 MWR, about $980 of the CWR was a dump, but one of the remaining rolls yielded two 1945 Walkers... first double-Walker roll. We also picked up $65 in $5 silver certs that I already sold for a nominal profit.

Hopefully this past week's silver pocket will continue into a silver vein!

Great week Avago, glad to hear that you had your best week of the year so far, I am hoping that things that improving even more now that the summer months are rolling around.
Good luck,

The skunk ratio has definitely been lower in recent weeks. I think we were only skunked on half this past week. In terms of silver, it was just about an average week. We pulled two 90% and four 40%, just about on par with our average for the year. My girlfriend did find one of the 90% which was a 1942 Walker. She seems to be in really nice shape too, probably the second nicest we've found in a box next to the one in my avatar picture. The black spots on the the obverse are kind of ugly... might try to soak them off.

It was a pretty slow week here, nothing particularly noteworthy. The usual eight boxes yielded two 90% and just one 40%, pretty meager finds. One of the 90% was a later date Walker, that's all.

Oh, did score a '64 out of $3 loose from a couple banks last weekend.

At least your 90% to 40% ratio was good, hopefully things begin to improve soon!
