I found this coin while metal detecting when I was a kid. I thought it was fake until I brought it to a coin show and a dealer said it was not necessarily fake. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about it?

Besides not being able to see the back, I don't see the writing on the right side :icon_scratch:

B

No not same coin, but did Ed Stearns make more than one kind :dontknow:

It's appearance very similar to HH's coin and time era in line with turn of the Century popular 'custom coin jewelry'.
No, its not the same coin. What it is, is another example of this widely copied coin, in the early 1900's, when Greek/Roman/Egyptian motiff jewelry was the latest craze.

Seems OK here :dontknow:
Do you have a large screen? My screen is 12-13 inches wide but Im missing about 5 inches. A screen 18 inches wide should fit the entire page. The first 3 pages of this thread fit.

I have a 24" widescreen on my home computer and page 4 fits fine, but on my laptop with a 15" widescreen, about 2 inches are cut off. It is because of the size of one of the pics at the top of page 4 is to big.

Another mystery solved? :icon_thumright: Im losing 5 inches here. I think you are correct because this thread is also too big because of the large pic posted. http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,275009.0.html

Why do others see it all? Do they have wide screens?

ya... do you measure across or diag.
I measured across about 13 inches wide on mine, 16 inch diagonal.

actual screen is 17 across or 20 diagonal. one inch border.
That helps explain it.

Wow! That's the longest post I've ever read on a Forum while scrolling
left to right to read it.

Very cool to have so much discussion end with the coin acually being named.

Can anyone fix the wide photo that's causing the page to be so wide?
It will forever be known as THE WISCONSIN FARLEY COIN. :icon_thumright:

Its too wide for me as well. Could it be that the original poster (HistoryHunter) has a large screen?

No, I am having the same problem.

I think I have figured out why some pictures make the thread too wide. If you just add a picture that is too wide to your post, it puts a slider/scroll bar at the bottom of the pic to move it over and see the whole pic......but if you ([atta.ch]) a picture to your post it treats the picture as part of the text, therefore the text ends up being as wide as the picture.

Maybe the Moderators can limit the picture resolution (example 650x800), not KB's, that you can ([atta.ch]) to your thread.

Sorry History Hunter for the temporary thread hijack.

I think you are correct but why does Crusader not have the problem and he is using a small screen?

i use internet explorer no ad ons but i haven't had no troubles. and i have a wide screen. i have noticed somewhere that when the picture was in the text instead of normal photo location, it sometimes makes a differance.
