Amazing reconstruction and restoration of my 18th century sword guard!!

Nice, now that's a professional repair job!
Hope the museums employ the same people.

Wow. Beautiful restoration Bill. Civilization (and human kind) thanks you for repairing and preserving such an amazing piece.

I can't believe how that turned out! What an awesome job! Good decision to send it off for restoration.

Wow that looks amazing Bill. I'm blown away. That is something you will likely never find again and it will be one of the nicest pieces in your collection

Great job! Thanks for saving a piece of history and for sharing with us

When you sent me the picture earlier I had to dig up your original post to remember what it looked like prior. I am just blown away at what he can do. I wish he would make a video of him in action. That's a reality show I could really get into!

Oh yeah.......you really need to do something with that overgrown weed infested yard I see in the background. Do you even own a lawnmower?

With my neighbor's weeds encroaching from all sides I decided it was a worthless cause to try and keep the yard up. That's OK - less work for me ....

That's incredible Bill. From the pictures its looks like it has a similar design on both sides of the guard? The restoration really is amazing with the tone and contrast.

That looks beautiful Bill . Did you send it to Roland? And did you send some of the dirt it was dug out of?

Fantastic restoration, Bill! Someday I hope to dig enough pieces to restore the Spanish Cap Badge I've dug pieces of in a field down here. Finds like yours give me hope.

Now, if it will just cool off enough to hunt. Time for me to hit the water and flee North! :)

Cheers,

Buck

It surely does look nice Bill...You didn't mention cost, but I'm sure I'm not the only one interested in that bit of info.

Really a superb restoration job Bill congrats on stepping up to the plate and taking some funds off the table to get this awesome piece restored.:occasion14:

BTW I think lawns are just big time suckers that are way over rated, time is better spent doing other things in life.:)

Amazing job!!!!

Congratulations on the find! The restoration person is a real craftsman, nice to see the craft live on.

The restoration job is outstanding- no doubt it makes you smile even more than when it was originally found.

Bill - That restoration job was worth every dollar! The color is great. It's amazing what the can be done today by people who are highly skilled at the craft. Their ability to make fragments whole again is impressive. You should write-up a detailed article for publication on its restoration. It's an important subject that doesn't get enough attention.
