Affordable Boat Act

I dont even know what you folks are talking about anymore... I feel like Im in the Twilight Zone.

Chad:

Your post is short on historical facts. The American Revolution wasn't about being "over taxed." The Boston Tea Party protested a tax decrease.

The issue was "representation." Citizens of the Colonies wanted the same rights as citizens in the rest of Great Britain. The King didn't want that.

By the way - the taxes the King did want to impose were precisely for "the common defense."

To claim we are overtaxed today is another matter. In the meantime, it is remarkably silly to claim we don't have representation. And to not correctly describe historical events.

Good luck to all,

Ben, it's s a t i r e...intended to be both funny, and possibly
even lightly offensive towards the [insert person or organization here] that
happens to be the subject.

Not making this religious at all, but I know the Bible, and there's not a word
in it about health insurance. Health care has only become a "God given right"
because a group of people have deemed it to be that way, and for no
other reason.

Not presuming to know ADS's thoughts, but I do see it as a reminder that
we're all wound up pretty tight over the healthcare issue, and it never
hurts to sit back and take a "chill pill" so things can get back into normal
perspective again.

(FWIW, I also thought it was funnieranhell, and am sorry you failed
to see the humor.)

What Does the Bible Say About Caring For The Sick?

but BOATS are mentioned in the bible :)

Wonder if Noah had insurance?

Imagine if God were to decide to flood the Earth again, and tapped some
poor bloke in Marin County (Calif) to be the new "Noah" and build a massive
ark.

The project would be buried in paperwork and red tape for 20 years. Sure
hope God is super patient.

in case there is confusion, jb wrote, "How can you compare boats (a luxury) to people's natural god-given right to be healthy?"

Dizzy wrote, "The project would be buried in paperwork and red tape for 20 years. Sure

True Dizzy, and the boat builders would be union workers so it would go way over budget and be of poor quality as well as take too long. Go directly to the Japanese for all your boating needs!

And remember, even if they were able-bodied and yet refused to help build the boat, you MUST allow them aboard and tend to their every desire 'til we are all safe again.

OB, I am all for everyone receiving medical treatment, no one should ever be denied that. BUT.......
(I always hate those buts), Insuring ppl with universal healthcare........ :dontknow: ...........

I have not seen the transparency, honesty, or truthfulness in this bill, and I also see how the rules(amendments) get changed at "some ppl's" whims. If this is going to be law in the good 'ole USA, then the law has to apply to everyone, not just certain sections or factions of ppl.

And, trying to fall under the fairness to all, do you penalize ppl that have always taken a lifelong interest and actively participated in their healthcare and paid their bills, take from them, to provide for those that do nothing and never cared about their health(till they get sick)? Those ppl DO deserve treatment, too. Maybe they just need to set up a fund, to pay ppl's bills, that don't/won't pay them? Maybe the insurance companies, that have profited from healthy ppl buying insurance, that they have had to pay no claims out on, maybe they could contribute some of THEIR profits.

I used to bill claims for a 53 hospital chain. We were instructed to not go after anyone's homes, assets, or paycheck, that owed hospital bills. Could this be one reason hospitals and medical providers don't get paid, costs increase, pass the loss on to those that do pay? Hospitals write off billions in healthcare dollars!
People don't pay their medical bills. The hospital and our outlook was, you don't file for a judgment against good ppl because of a medical situation. Period. Hospitals and big business is not without heart(some of them). The one's that did get liened against, had other insurances and other responsible parties to attach to. I think we only ever sought 1 judgment against 1 fella, and it was cause he was ridiculous wealthy, and just didn't care or feel he had to pay his share.
Under Obamacare, if you don't pay, they will have big brother IRS, detach your asset's. It almost makes me wonder, if the sheriff will come and evict a family out of their home, because they got sick, couldn't work, and couldn't pay their share owed to providers. I KNOW, I KNOW, the bill says they will only "lien" against your assets and property, but, whose to stop them from "amending" that clause, too?

There has been so little dialogue about intricate matters and implications, within this bill, well........
If I had a had a hand in passing and implanting it, I'd be pretty mugged up about it, too.
Just act all stupid about it, no one ask a stupid man, to defend anything, do they?
I don't mean to come across as non caring to the plight of the sick, that's not my intent.
If I was to put myself out in the street, paying for others, then I am going to be in need of the some services, I just gave away to another. Who's going to come save me? And what will become of the poor, when everyone is poor, and no one has NOTHING left to give. Think our government is going to be as altruistic, sitting in their castles, staring down at the unwashed masses?

Are we growing so fast, in to a nation of victims, that no one is able to stand on his own two feet, and take responsibility for their choices, and understand how "cause and effect", have come in to play, for this whole mess of "healthcare:, that we now have?

Noah's insurance plan! LOL! Let everyone onto the boat! When it sinks, you'll all be swimming and drowning together! While worrying about what everyone will do when they get sick, why don't we start promoting from a place of HEALTH!
What can everyone do, to maintain they are healthy, and not incur needless pain, suffering, and disease?
By golly, someone should create a school for THAT! HUH?

Keep religion out of thread please except for general reference to God.

Ben, religious discussion isn't allowed, plus it would me take several
lengthy posts just to put those verses into context, and that would
violate the rules. Let me leave you with an old [secular] saying; "Without
context there is no meaning...they're simply words on a page."

Being satirical here (so there's no confusion). If healthcare is, indeed a
"God given right", then maybe we should be looking to God to foot the bill?

TH..we cross posted. I was just moving away from the subject.

I also wonder....... If doctors give FREE healthcare, who is going to feed, clothe, and house doctors?
It would really have to bite, to treat 2 dozen ppl a day, to only find out, at the end of the day, no one paid anything, or left you any type of compensation, no payment, nothing, nada, zip, not even a chicken feather!
Where's the fairness in that?

Good ole gubberment, tell them doctors, wait 90 days to get paid and to eat! LOL!
That would fly about as well as a snake!

This thread is hysterical and just wanted to say how much I got to laughing while reading it! Good job!

Now that is the VERY BEST analogy I have read about UNIVERSAL COVERAGE / LUCIFERCARE.

Just think if Noah would have left the 2 liberals on the beach. "What a wonderful world we'd live in":laughing7: Remember Satire is the bodies defense against strupidty.

Yup...they'll get to medical price-fixing soon enough. Then the doctors will quit, then the long waits will begin. The only good thing about that is British & Canadian citizens will stop coming here for the care they can't get at home. (no offense to either country's citizens)

They tried that......that's where San Francisco came from.

This statement is factually incorrect. Congress does not get free healthcare.

Technically they do get free health care. They pay for it out of bribe money given to them.:laughing7:
