A week of gold mining

Pretty effing excited, me and my buddy are leaving tomoro morning for a week of mining on the Mokolumne.
We are going to an actual gold claim.
My back already hurts just thinking about it, but hopefully it will be worth it.
Funny how i choose to spend my time off work digging and doing back-breaking work, with no guarantee of getting paid

Our hope is to each come home with a chunk of gold big enough to be picked up with our hands and be respectfully called a nugget, from what I hear about the spot, it can be done.

I was thinking about taking my kids there for a week of "family prospecting", sure would like to hear what you have to say about it when you return. Good luck and have fun.

Great folks, righteous grub, neat clean cabins, don't get much better than that. Gold is purty too-John PS-GPAA latest rag has article on some folks experience.

Sounds like a great plan. Hope you have a great time and be sure to post your results.

Oh man. That was probably one of the best experiences of my life!

I recommend Roaring Camp to everyone.

The staff was awesome, the food was good, the "atmosphere" was just amazing.
My buddy and I are officially miners now, and the Rodmans are for sure gonna remember us.
Cant wait to go back...

I got some pics but havent loaded them yet.

Activities:
Digging, whizz-banging, digging, hiking, digging, moving boulders in the 2-4 ton range, digging, eating, digging, drinking, digging, fishing, and of course more digging.
So much history there and so much to see and do.
We met some great people from all over the US that came.
I might add, we did NOT buy the pile, we went and found our own "wild gold"(as we called it), but the folks who did buy a pile found just a little more then we did(tho they had a LOT less work).

Here is some pics, Im in the blue shirt and jeans, my buddy is in camo, we were running material thru my homemade gold-trap thats styled after the Bazooka(my trap worked great, got us a nug, many pickers, and tons of fines). Then theres us and the Marshall, and theres 2 of the cleanouts we did during the week(Im still blue-bowling the cons we brought home).

All in all and gold aside, Id say this trip was one of the best experiences of my life so far...
