For myself the prospecting window for this year has closed and since some have indicated they would like to see more pictures I will start off with the attached offering. The pictures are all taken in the Sierra Nevada Range in Northern California where I go to prospect and just enjoy "being out there". I usually hike where it is rugged, there are no designated campsites, running water is available in creeks or rivers only and if you want something while you are out there you'd best have brought it with you as the hike out is long and tough. I frequently hike where there are limited or no trails and this takes me into some of the most beautiful country on this earth. I hope you enjoy!

I get it now, CR, Costa Rica???John is it a Croc??? Not a good tender...

Well I wrote a response to you this morning John but it got lost in pixel land. What is that thing anyway? Come on give some details. I promise to post some more pictures!!!!......63bkpkr

Know your pain Herb as IT is giving me fits. MASSIVE caymen they call'm in Costa Rica. A tour boat comes by,stops, guides hold out chickens about 5 feet ouffa the water from the side side of the boat(touristas camera click away) and the caymen(crocs to me) go deep and propel themselves straight up and snatch them dead chickens as many boats a day and they are trained to attack. Well here come fool tourist John in a kayak 4" outta the water and they come a lookn' for a handout MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE :tongue3: when the waters went to yellow from me urinating myself, as kayak MOST easily tipped over, and a few whacks with my paddle :BangHead: silly ol'man paddled asap back many miles to Tortugaro resort and spent the rest a the day in the bar.....then went ziplining through the forest canopies fulla righteous CR rum-from coast to coast insanity ruled the day-John---PS-Herb truly hope phone conversation helped ya out and MUCH respect for your mother nature respect--sooo cool

Thanks John,
That sounds like quite an adventure though I am glad it was yours and not mine!.....63bkpkr

Okay, so I promised John some more pictures if he would complete his story about the picture and he has so here goes:

1) ~60' wide falls 2) ~ 500' falls from small stream that feeds a small lake then empties over the cliff 3) me with 500' falls in back of my left side 4) 2nd creek on other side of hill and 180 degrees from 500' falls 5) Down on the main river looking up river 6) Out in the main river, mountain in center of picture with bald spot on right side - I made a trail to the top past the bald spot 7) November morning breakfast before starting trail work 8 & 9) Scenery along new trail route 10) Gully way back in as far as trail went, note curvature of tree trunk likely from avalanche or snow load 11) Looking up from gully back the way I came in 12) Another shot coming back out of the foot path going 'up' the hill

But the stories for these pictures will have to come a bit later as I must go right now. The last six were taken on a cross country expedition I took to see if I could find my way into a remote canyon. Mostly what I found was remoteness..........63bkpkr

Look alot like a gator to me lol Nice photo shoot 63 I enjoy all your posts. HH, keep enjoying life my friend

YAHOO Herb... so that's the heavenly spot we talked about. Absolutely amazing.. I have never seen that waterfall before but reminds me of trinity alps where we heloed into a spot quite like that, but more circular, like in entry to Jurriasic park movie. Talk about being on the edge of a cliff--sooooooo cool. Looks like a great spot to sit down and enjoy the eternity...respect-John :laughing7::icon_thumright:

Heavenly stuff it is too John! No place I'd rather cash my chips in than "out there". That place is out of Sacramento and takes some honest work to get into, no Helo ride for me. I've a sort of desire to go over the wall on a rope to see what that pool looks like, maybe I will some day. So which water fall you talking about: There's the wide one with the sloping 75 foot drop under it, then there's the one jumping out the wall of the mountain and dropping 500' (same one in the background over my left shoulder where I'm kneeling in the bushes). Yes sir some no fooling around rough country out there and it is so awesome to be out in it!!
I love it.........Herb

nice pics ! :icon_thumright:

Thank you Hispan, its where I go to play!........63bkpkr

Sir, you are an inspiration. I plan on being up in the wilderness this spring (Eldorado) and hope I handle it half as well as you did. Can I ask what kind of camping gear you packed in? And how about gold - just a pan and classifier? Was this national forest land?

I'm originally from Alaska and have done all my hiking in the bush. No rules, no regulations, just wide open land. This is my first year in California and am constantly worried about where I can go and if I can primitive camp or not. So many rules and governing agencies, they've taken the fun out of just being out doors. Not right to be this intimidated over where I can walk and where I can sit.

Awesome pics.

Great pics of sierras, 63bkpkr.

About 12 years ago, my mother had a client who at the time had to be mid 80s. He hiked up there every year. He could put most people to shame as far as fitness and roughing it. I thought I was a big roughneck camper. I learned from him that my camping/hiking was kids play. Lol. I always figured when I retired, that that's what I'd do. Working in office made me soft. Disability made me softer. However, my desire is still there. I'll never say die. If its in the outdoors, then that's where I'll be. Hoping ill be able to get up there in a couple years. In the meantime I'll be posting my Arizona pics of where I've been. Most my trips are a day or so. Since my ankle is healing up. That's my one true love. Now if I could get my wife to understand it, that'd be even better. She just won't rough it. Lol. Keep them coming.

Good Morning Garret,
I can so appreciate where you are coming from as I refuse to stop either. I look forward to seeing your pictures!.....63bkpkr

63bkpkr,

Well I can't speak for Terry but here is one in Hot Dry Arizona. Anybody what to take a shot where this might be in Arizona? It's not up north in the Sedona area...

It is along the New Mexico border and Mexico border. One of Arizona's other stunning sites. This is the Chiricahua Mountains with thousands of huge boulders that are balance on top of each other.
