For myself the prospecting window for this year has closed and since some have indicated they would like to see more pictures I will start off with the attached offering. The pictures are all taken in the Sierra Nevada Range in Northern California where I go to prospect and just enjoy "being out there". I usually hike where it is rugged, there are no designated campsites, running water is available in creeks or rivers only and if you want something while you are out there you'd best have brought it with you as the hike out is long and tough. I frequently hike where there are limited or no trails and this takes me into some of the most beautiful country on this earth. I hope you enjoy!

View attachment 707300 The view from the very top gives you an idea of where I go backpacking and prospecting. Note: There are two pine trees to the right of the picture and close to the camera. There is the forest behind them, then a ridge then a second ridge with a nice 'soft looking' green spot on it. It is a Manzanita Jungle ~ 7' tall and I spent an unprepared night in there, it was not fun but I learned a lot on that trip. Rule #1) Always carry a SPOT Messenger unit!!

Awesome pics, that is some beautiful land that you are hiking through there.

YES Neo Tokyo that is some beautiful country. How many places allow you to take a picture of a trout in the water looking like there was no water? It is so clean!! And the side canyons are so many that I've not been able to get up all of them. I guess I just have to go again this coming summer! Darn.....Glad you enjoyed and left a message.

Yup, the photo of the trout really shows off how pure that water is. :)

Sweet! Thank you for sharing these GREAT photos!! :occasion14:

Well thanks for the thanks Terry! What hot dry country photo's do you have that are interesting/beautiful/etc.?...63bkpkr

Nice! Nice! Herb, you ever been on a stream during a mayfly hatch? A BLIZZARD of insects and trout going WILD! Breath taking country. TTC

Hi Terry,
No I've never been in a Mayfly hatch, I bet it is something though. Possibly second to a Mayfly hatch would be being in the outback of Alaska in August and September, the place is lousy with mosquito's! Yes the Sierras are a beautiful place to "play" in! Herb

That is just beautiful country. I would have trout for breakfast everyday. Hope you packed out a back pack full. Nice.

Great pics 63,
Not many people left in the world like you. I enjoy your pictures and stories here and on some of the other forums.

Keep em coming
Steve

Hey Fulpan,
You are the first person I've ever heard talk about the Lady Bugs and YES I've seen them many years in a row, quite the sight. I've also noted that trout bellies are full of them as well, one of my best lures mimics the Lady Bug pattern.

Yes Tnmountains it is beautiful country, so much to explore! I've found one location way back in that has pools full of 18" to 24" native Rainbow Trout in every pool!! The conditions there are so good that the rainbow colors of the fish are almost fluorescent and they have large bodies almost like lake trout! I suspect you've some good places like that in Tn......63bkpkr
