Well, I read somewhere that "JB" was commissioned a CAPTAIN for his work... if Old Silver was correct about "The Tables of Distances", coulda been "freelance" work... Lynchburg AND Richmond, Va.

Maybe...Like Ward's wife's great aunt, CSA Captain Lucy Mina Otey?

NOT sure where Cindy V. is... think up north with their son, Ben. She is no longer in Bedford City/County. Ben is an accountant; think he got his degree from VPI...James Beverly Ward served on the Home Guard as a Quartermaster General. He was buried with the rank of Major (per his burial records)
I intend to lay this story to an end one way or the other. Rebel KGC, I need your help, we need to burn a little shoe leather. I plan on talking to all of the next of kin I can locate. I also plan on finding diaries and letters to verify or deny the story one way or the other. I also plan on finding the cemetery where James Beverly Ward and wife are located along side of Giles Ward and his wife, maybe Robert Morris and Sarah Morris also. It is time to end this gentleman and I plan on doing this real soon. Help me out Rebel KGC. I know we can do this. First I need for you to find the phone number and address of Peter Viemeister's wife. There was a diary of James Beverly Ward whether Jr. or Sr. I do not know but I did hold it in my two hands. We need to relocate it. Sorry fellas I don't plan on posting much until this is resolved.

The Lynchburg Home Guard was muster into the CSA 11th Virginia Infantry Regiment during the "2nd Year of the Confederate War" and two of the field officers were CSA Col Kirkwood Otey and CSA Major J R Hutter.James Beverly Ward served on the Home Guard as a Quartermaster General. He was buried with the rank of Major (per his burial records)...
Yes, CSA Major J R Hutter was a DIRECT GRANDSON of James Beverly Risque; brother of Maj. E F Hutter & Maj. F C Hutter. J B Risque's Head-stone is behind Maj. E F Hutter's "site" in Pres. Cemetery on Grace Street... BEEN THERE!The Lynchburg Home Guard was muster into the CSA 11th Virginia Infantry Regiment during the "2nd Year of the Confederate War" and two of the field officers were CSA Col Kirkwood Otey and CSA Major J R Hutter.
We keep returning to this extended family.
Depends on what you want to look for... MHO is that Montvale would be a "waste of time"; Bedford City/County Museum MAY have PV's stuff... BUT! Lynchburg's Jones Memorial library MAY have info (BIO) on "The Players" in this GRAND DRAMA; need a list of names...
I "posted" previously that wife & I found the Plantation/Farm "area"... A HUGE "spread" south of Sandusky, near Dreaming Creek, along the James River going WEST to to Judith Creek on 151 towards Eagle Erie. Rt. 151 is the SOUTHERN border... the James River is the NORTHERN Border.Contacted the Bedford City/County Museum, they talked with Cindy and she says all books were sold from the book store. Only books for sale now are the books that PV wrote and published. So that is now gone forever unless the lucky person that purchased the diary realizes what exactly he has purchased.
Will look for Risque's Plantation as soon as time permits. The curator at Sandusky says he don't know where it was located. He said he would like to know also. I will find it and the cemetery if there are any headstones yet to be found. We will see. Thanks Rebel. I would like to have a Census Record for Lynchburg City for 1880 and search all of their relatives to see if any has a diary for 1883 to 1886 that should cover the time of the publication about the Beale Papers. Keep digging. I know I will until someone shows the gold or proof that the story was a hoax. I am leaning towards a hoax theory but I need confirmation and I intend to find it or the treasure one or the other.

During the "2nd year of the Confederate War", Harriet E Otey Ward's 2nd cousin, CSA Captain George Gaston Otey (Lucy Mina Otey's son) was mortally wounded at the battle of Lewisburg, WV (May 23, 1862), was taken to a Richmond hospital, and was later taken to his home in Lynchburg, where he died, October, 1862.Yes, CSA Major J R Hutter was a DIRECT GRANDSON of James Beverly Risque; brother of Maj. MY "clue" was the DREAMING CREEK "area" that can be seen from Sandusky; (Hutter Family). Info wasn't from PV...How do you know it is the Plantation/Farm area? Any evidence to verify. I believe it is in a location where no one has looked yet. I believe PV had the wrong area also. But we will see. I want to find the cemetery or documents to verify. I will let you know what I find.
HH! Goods Luck!PV had Dreaming creek in his book also. I have search
ed all up and down that creek last summer------No luck. I have a better lead as soon as I can check it out.
