My Dad passed away yesterday at the age of 80, He was raised on a farm
during the 30's and 40's He never got into Treasure Hunting with me
until the last 4 months of his life, I got to take him one time and I think
that he really enjoyed it. I know that he loved anything to do with the outdoors
and he was fascinated by the relic's that I got to show him.
He was the Valedictorian of his class, And joined the Navy right out of High School
Where he became a Cryptologist. He followed in the steps of his to brothers,
one was at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7th 1941 had a Fleet Carrier (the Franklin) sunk
out from under him and was at Tokyo Bay aboard the Might Mo (USS Missouri)
during the Japanese surrender.
Dad suffered the lose of two sons as well. Dad wasn't a Great man nor famous but
He was my HERO........Calm Sea's and Fair wind's Pop...............

P.S.
I'm not sure why I felt the need to post this as it has nothing to do with T-Net
except that I wanted someone to know that a Good Man left this world yesterday

Immediately after reading your post I spoke a prayer that the Spirit Of God console and uplift you and your family's hearts.

The old warrior has "crossed over the river," into eternal peace and comfort. Please believe that you have not actually lost him, for on that other shore you will see him again, and embrace in joyful reunion.

So sorry for your loss. We are losing these members of the Greatest Generation rapidly... I'm glad you know details about his service, I've been trying to get as much from my grandfather as I can - he was an Infantry Sgt that fought across Europe. Passing on your fathers experiences will keep his memory alive... God bless.

No question, this type of eulogy belongs here and I'm Very sorry for your lose. There's no doubt if he fought the good fight and took up arms to defend his country in a major time of strife (World War II) he was a great man and without question I'm sure your hero.

A great man

I had a friend who loved her father dearly and who several times said to me "Aww, he's a great man!" as she spoke lovingly and laughingly about her family memories of him. Sadly he passed, a few years later. Your writing brings back the memory.

You were fortunate to have had the relationship you did with your Dad. It is moving to read how rightfully proud you are of him and your words of admiration are surely one of the truest measures of his greatness. Regards and condolences.

Godbless. Your Pop will be with you when your out swinging that machine, maybe not physically but you will know he is there with you.

Just wanted to thank you to everywho posted and the well wishes that were sent my way.
It really ment alot to me to hear from some many of my T-Net Family, I will alway's charish
the nots of condolenses and words of wisdome, Thank you all again from the bottom of my heart
Greg.
