In the woods it's a good idea to carry...just in case the bear wants you or your finds! :icon_thumleft:

I carry, but if I’m out somewhere I don’t expect to see one, and see one the rock method works. I only know this from experience as I’ve only had it happen once. I didn’t expect a bear in my grandmas woods as we’ve never seen one, and no one else in my family who hunts has.

The laying in the fetal position idea was thought to have worked, and they’ve proved that theory wrong, by the large amount of bear attacks while in that position, they generally grab you by the head, or extremities

I think they’re illegal in most states now, as they’re seen as a brutal, tool that can be used to commit either an assault or if they have proof of intent then they can charge you with attempted capital murder if they can prove you premeditated it, and planned to use them. I still have my ASP, my very first Smith & Wesson handcuffs, and even my first slapstick, which if most don’t know what that is it’s a leather bound piece of equipment with a round leather loop, that’s got either sand, or padded lead used as a less than deadly force, but it’s like anything else, you hit someone in the right spot it’ll kill them.

We found one of those among my wifes things that was left by her deceased husband along with what we suspect were plant guns. He was a police chief in a podunk Illinois town.
Also found a set of brass knucks and a KKK belt buckle which I believe is more of a fantasy piece than real.

Dang. You know the corruption never seems to end. I’ve heard of plant guns, I’ve seen folks use them on tv, but as far as I know I’ve never witnessed one in real life. I did catch a lot of coworkers who lied about charges, and embellished the story to make those charges stick. Which was bs, I always wrote in my reports to supplement a officers claim someone I backed up that pulled some shady **** I would say things like “ I wasn’t aware, I didn’t see, I do not believe, or SUPPOSEDLY”. I never would help a “brother” out. They aren’t my brothers, even my own brothers wouldn’t ask me to lie for them to make something sound right
