65 Million gun purchases has to mean something!

They have some good velocity now.
I have one of the gamo ones.. Bought it just to see what all the hype was about.. Well I like it so much it's my primary squirelle gun anymore and I was even lucky enough to catch a grouse sitting in the grapevines and was able to harvest it with my air rifle.. The funny thing is when I was walking up to get the grouse I harvested another one flew away the gun did'nt even scare the second one.. Truly a cool gun..

I think my generation was the last to experience the cold war, and remember. Nukes was a common topic I think in
every household. d.o.b 74

Bevo, I am right there with you. And as Pong mentioned we had 3 drills in school. 1st was nuke (get under desk), 2nd was earthquake (get under desk), and 3rd was fire (form a line outside in the field). Even as a kid I can remember thinking what good is the desk going to do me in the event of a nuke strike! I also remember the teachers talking to us kids about the cold war and how any night could be the night we get bombed. I remember laying awake in bed many nights worrying if that night it was going to happen. Not something a kid should have to worry about. If North Korea or Iran get nukes I can see this all happening again. And BO is doing nothing about it.......

Just to clarify I meant nothing rude by my comment about getting under the desk.. It just seemed to me that after the a bomb was dropped and they saw the destruction that it caused that this under the desk drill seemed of little use.. I understand it was a different time but it makes me wonder just how much the government values civilians lives if they are telling them to hide from a nuke under a desk... Again no disrespect was meant...

Pong, I don't think anyone took your post as disrespectful.

Pong, I agree the govt. really does not respect American's lives. Remember Ruby Ridge?

Sometimes the truth hurts. Seems to me that when BO needed the SEALS to get Ben Laden, they put their lives on the line and did the job for him, but when the SEALS needed him at Benghazi ---- well, ho-hum, there will be bumps in the road --- his words, not mine.

Of course it means something. Fear and paranoia. A lot could have been avoided by turning off the radio.

I will agree there is a lot of bad info coming from NPR.......total trash. This could be classified as radical media!

Well, getting older but I still like power, but not weight. My out in the boonies carry is a Texas Defender 2 barrel derringer in .45 colt/.410. The .410 can contain "000", slug, or snake shot. A friend once asked what I would do if there were 3 guys. I replied I had 2 options, 1- look the leader in the eyes and say your going first, or 2- if I can't identify the leader, just ask who wants to go first? By the way, the .45 colt is just below the .44 Mag on the power charts. Frank

Frank, have you ever been nervous out in the dessert? Like someone watching you? I know that sounds funny but I am serious.

BosnMate I wonder how Mr. Ob would like to be reffered to as a bump in the road.. Just goes to show you where his priorities are.. That statement should make evey American madder than hell.

My guns will serve me just find thank you.. Trust me and I use them for various things such as hunting, sporting clays, recreation and for personal protection.. Would rahter be prepared than walking around thinking we live in a perfect world...

And that's exactly what the duck and cover folks thought. Best

:sadsmiley:I only got one in the last three years,i'm ashamed LMAO.When i lived in NH i had a nice little arsenal.Soon as my car is squared away, tune up and trans fluid change, i'll be taking a ride though.Who knows my mini 30 or remington 870 might be in.

I think ob is a "bump in the road" problem is he is turning in to a sinkhole in the road and it is swallowing up our freedoms. But then again OB is pretty good at swallowing!! Just ask George Soroes...

Red, if you get up to maine give me a shout!

Hacker sounds like you and I had the same experiences since you worked in SAC you were doing the same general thing I was, I was a photo interpreter for Air Force Intelligence for 306 Bomb Wing... I can't tell you how many times we launched every single B-52 in this country loaded with nukes to fail safe points, missile silos opened and missiles warmed up because of Russian Bear bombers coming over the Bearing Straits to wards U.S. Both countries operated under the M.A.D. theory. (Mutual Assured Destruction).......It was litterly a game of "chicken" or nerves to see who blinked first......

I was in the 98th Bomb Wing permanent at Lincoln Nebr. with alert status in England and Spain. Our sister wing was the 307th.
Even though the world was nuts I did have some good times. The key to good times then was to never weigh the consequences.
Few today know just how close we got. SAC was the most potentially destructive military machine ever created by man. Enough power to destroy the world several times over.
Maybe that's why when I see people acting out their irrational fears about the world, I just scratch my head.

Well I was'nt alive for the cold war.. But I always wondered why they had the get under your desk drill in case of a bombing.. Never made much sense to me but different times I guess..

It was to sell the lie that they could survive. But if the bomb didn't get you the radiation would. If you survived those two you would starve to death waiting for the radiation cloud covering the earth. The world was nuts and when thought about it was all about who would control the economy, the means of production, the capitalists or the State.
