Jose, Sobex, Thanks for the info. Seen those types of boats on the idiot box(TV)looks like a drive shaft direct driven off the crank.Lift prop out of water to stop foward momentum.Engine mounted on a Y yoke type assembly. Neat. M 60 neater.May be kind of niave but can such firearms be owned leagally by the people?Also seem that you could change direction of such a craft with a short burst.In a serious firefight it might look like you were in retreat mode.

Your "V-hull treasure speed boat" is good only maybe in your place or in the movies......but NOT suitable in Philippine settings or in REAL TREASURE HUNTING SCENARIO....simply bcoz once you landed a v-hull speed boat....count for about a minute...you will be sorrounded by curiosity seekers local residence (remember you had a very nice speed boat)....NOT GOOD FOR COVERT TREASURE HUNTING OPERATION...and what will be your alibi if the local authorities will ask you, what the heck this nice speed boat doing here? aber?
Treasure hunting in the Philippines...you need to BLEND the local populace...to avoid detection of your covert treasure hunting operation....meaning you need to use the same "pump boat" ....Regarding the underwater Budha...don't worry, we will do our best to get picture of it...by the way, if we were able produce the picture...am 100% sure "big time treasure hunter players will surely finance our project"....NOT a just homemade U/W breathing aparatus...

Sure a "V-hull treasure speed boat" would draw Zero attention in California. But pull up in a dug out canoe with a 30 caliber machine gun mounted on the bow and you'll be the talk off the town, and no alibi would be a good alibi for the Authority's.

GBoy, in many ways you are right. But, I have had a 21 foot open bow tri-hull true jet boat in Mindanao for several years now. I keep it top shape mechanically but the outside looks like c r a p.

If you see some Mindanaons or or dark skin people with a rag on their head running a good boat, they think you are ASG or KFRG. Or think you are a smuggler, that makes you a good guy. Just give them a carton of cigarettes and they watch out for you. Then stay away from you. Been there, done that.

It will not affect the prices of gold one bit because I heard from the grapevine that the goods will never be sold here commercially or in abroad (for the time being?) because its mission is to finally complete its journey of reaching the mother land as intended in February of 1944. Accordingly, the cruiser ship where it was supposed to be loaded was destroyed in the Battle of manila bay. It was an old soldier's final mission, and his glory. I was so moved in seeing the frailing old 80+ former soldier walking along the shore. When we learned the reasons for the hauling, we were so moved that we kept quiet about the matter for almost 2 weeks. That's Patriotism for the old soldier no matter they were our former enemy.

dindo_bayaua I have known two Old Japs in the islands who were responsible for the burying of treasure. One even was at the my wedding on Mindanao. One killed by the Government in 2001 and the other shot by Muslims in 2004 during a joint treasure recovery. BOTH had been responsible for great death of the Philippine people. Slave labor was used to dig and bury the treasure and all slave labor was murdered when the job was done. When you are digging and come into a mass grave of 10-40 dismembered and mutilated Filipino bodies and in one case we found 5 American solders chopped up as slave labor.

So while I in a fashion respected them as a capable fighter and in these cases were even friends. That gold they are taking away was prior acquired by them in the rape and murder of thousand of other people. Now they come to take it away for their own pleasure.

In some cases they are digging up the bones of the 60 year old dead Filipinos and tossing the bones in the mud so they can get at that treasure.

In a "typical treasure hunting operation"...you should have a good 4X4 vehicle (range rover)...speed zodiac boat....hi-tech eqp't...and etc...
However, in Philippine settings...you can't easily use these kind of logistics, to avoid detection and monitoring of local populace...meaning you have to BLEND the local populace.

Just imagine if a group of 8 men (treasure hunters)...descending from a Range rover/Speed boat...carrying hi-tech eqp't or backpacks....in a remote town area....

What do you think would happen?
1) In a few minutes...a town Chieftain, will automatically approach and investigate these strangers (treasure hunters) and ask what they are doing in their remote town....
2) The neighbors or curiosity seekers will surely sorrounded and monitor your team round the clock... and as usual ask why we are there?...If they monitor you, how the heck you can go to your treasure sites...
Remember...in a remote area...there are lots of people that would give you headaches... bystanders/curiosity seekers, local authorities, rebels, bandits...and that is their territory...not ours...
And getting these much attention from these people...IS A BIG NO NO IN COVERT/SECRET TREASURE HUNTING OPERATION...

And the best way...to infiltrate remote treasure areas....blend and act like the local populace..
How we did it, infiltrating their treasure areas w/o being monitored...thru these years?...SECRET and diskarte lang yan...

Please help me with your opinion on the following that are in an area which according to what was related to me by someone living in that area, it used to be occupied by the Japanese soldiers during the war:
1) 3 mango trees in triangle formation; pointing to south direction; d base is 11' apart; from pointer to base is about 13'
2) around 50' to the west of no. 1 are broken stones with shapes such as "V", "X", and "shell of a turtle on top of a big stone (this stone with carved shell of a turtle is about 1.5 feet diameter)
3) about 160' down the slope from no.2 were burried standing(shallow only) 8pieces steels forming a "J". these steels look like a shield of a top gunner of a military tank.
if you are standing at no. 3 and look to no. 2 & 1, you are facing east. please note that 1, 2, & 3 are in a line.

IHIO Ikebana I have a full blooded Japanese adopted sister Mitsuki Nakamura Curry. I had a gentleman "Tani" that was a Col in the Japanese intelligence before the war that was a close family friend.

I was at the receiving end of the Japanese co-prosperity Sphere program starting with Guadalcanal, Aug 11, 1942, and ended up with two holes after 4 years in the Pacific. I spent time at Yokosuko after the war, then went to pre communist China.

I have personally seen some of the results of the Japanese programs in the Pacific and certainly did in the Philippines at Mactan Cebu and China . They were NOT nice.

I am curious, what lies have been presented about the Japanese in here? What history books have you read from outside of Japan?

Actually this is not the place to speak of this, but I must ask you to relax, nothing in here is personally directed at you.

As for the wording "Jap", I have heard far worse in Japan referring to the Americans. but if it offends you personally I agree, no such word should be used. Personally I consider the Japanese as my neighbors and have some great friends, sides Japanese gals are cute.
