Going over some of the others posts... I saw this...
I do not think this user meant to advertise anything... for anyone...
From my point of view they were merrily trying to help.

Your probably right and it was only help.
I am sorry.
I admit i can be defensive and quick to become frustrated, Its just that the very same link to those same beads for purchase was given twice.

Notice the drill holes on the coins.

IF this is a "fantasy piece"... it was done to a "t"...
I picture some old fur trader around 1800 wearing this.

In this photo i angled two beads on top of the coin.
I beleive its a good example of the construction method.

Here is some eye candy for all us coin lovers

This set of pics is good...

Would love to see entire piece close up shot...
Not "laid out"... balled up and close.
Anyway...
Looks like hemp.
And... who knows perhaps has never been restrung and is "in situ" as is.
Hemp fiber is the strongest longest lasting natural fiber on earth... so... could have been in some box for the last 100 years or so.

This is a mystery piece.
Love these types of pieces.
Makes the imagination world go round. :)

Oh... and... forget the "old 1900's fur trader"...
Sheesh...
Hemp...
More like pirate.
All ships ropes and rigging were hemp... so... here goes the imagination again.

IF sinew ... Fur trader... Indian... only the necklace knows.

I can now see with the side view of the beads that I am 100% correct on my theory of the mandrel bend.
Amazing frigging piece.

here is a metalsmith on the island, maybe let him take a look at it

...the point being...there are a lot of resources out there other than us and we all have spent a lot of time searching on this already...time to bring in some more folks.

Thank you, and everyone for your valuable time and effort.
Indeed i am trying desperatly to bring in more people.
Today i left 2 messages at my local university and spoke to someone. Already sent emails also, just need to wait and see...
I am looking worldwide for anyone knowledgable on the subject , museums, appraisers.
I try to get them to google this forum, to see my pictures and our discussions.

Still waiting on outside help...
I have some more imaginative theories
I did use to think pirate origins originaly, someone led me to research olivier levasseur and his treasure,
but the more i researched i realized the dates of my coins were outside the pirate era.
Now im researching Laffite of Bataria, and resurgence of pirates in the time frame of my necklace, perhaps this pirate sunk 143 ships etc......
Ive posted some interesting photos.
Also ive been thinking would someone realy put that much work and time into brass beads? The quality is something id see in silver or gold, perhaps the beads are indeed very old and restrung a few times, maybe made of Tumbaga. The spanish made metal from looted inca treasures, varrying in purity,
Could my beads on closer inspection not actualy have some gold? Maybe gold doesnt tarnish ,but it can get dirty and patina, and if stored for a long time in unfavorable conditionss after exposed to chemicals, maybe salt water?

I know they say gold doesn't tarnish but I dug a ring that came out of the ground black after I straitened it I could see it was marked 14k. So it tested it 14k acid burned it up in a second tried the 10k acid it held for a while so I took it to a jeweler turns out it's 8k. So low carat gold will does tarnish I wouldn't be surprised if the did contain some gold

It really looks brass to me but if it was it should be more corroded by now or at least have a patina more than it does. I would love to see some pictures taken outside in natural daylight. Also if there is any way you could take a picture of The Medallion from the edge so I can get an idea of how high the relief is on the heart and crucifix if that's what that is.

Just a quick note, i have looked for significant events occuring at the dates of the coins,
1773 pretty big one... Boston Tea Party?

I feel confident that it was put together and assembled ten or Twenty Years After the dates on the coins because the wear on the coins is too even to have occurred on the necklace which means the coins were in circulation long enough to wear them down evenly. Otherwise the coins design would be more clear near the holes.

Alright!, so daylight was great advice.
Its dark and cloudy outside,so what i did is, i took a daylight cfl lamp from the office. I cleaned my magnifying glass with windex ,and took some new photos with the phone. Looks amazing!

I'm late to the party so if it's already been brought up I apologize. I didn't have time to read through nearly 150 posts. One side looks like Jesus as he would appear on the cross with a cloth wrapped around his lower body. cloth. The back side resembles the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

the two bar cross is the "orthodox" catholic type --common from Russian fur traders --the single bar cross is the "roman catholic type" .. common from Spanish trade ...

i dont know if the Chachal (necklace in Quiche language ), were ever done in brass
beads, they started doing them with coins in Chile, Peru, Bolivia, and Colombia, when
the spainsh arrived and started mines and minting, just another era and area to check into
