What do you know of this token?

Front: Non Silba Sed Anthar (Not for ones self, but for others)

People post finds from attics and curb sides on this forum on a regular basis, so we've tolerated non-metal detector finds here before. A problem arises when someone claims to have dug something that obviously never spent a day in the ground.

On another note, I think this offensive token wins the "politically incorrect coin of the day" award.

If we learned from HISTORY instead of word of mouth. We would all be wanting to join. Learn what it started out as, and not judge it by what it became in later years.

I can't like your post, Not exactly sure what you meant and it can be read different ways. But, I did go and read a few pages of history because of your post. The history is interesting! So, you may be right! Depending on the movement/generation and what they stood for. The same types of movements are carried out in media today and most don't even know. The actions are different today, that's for sure. But they are for all groups. Not saying it was a good organization, but I have no reason to be offended or ashamed by our past! I wasn't there!

Cool find!!! Anything from history is cool to have in your hand! Wonder about the time, the place, etc......

Aside from all the off topic debate, I personally thinks it's an awesome find.
You can't learn from history by pretending it never happened.

People should stop being so god damn sensitive over a token its history this still is America I think?

It should be melted down and destroyed as the disgusting piece of garbage it represents.

Isn't that what they stood for? Destroying or stopping what they didn't like? Just saying!

I'm not defending the group at all. I'm defending the owners and people curious about the history or value of these kind of Items. But how can so much hatred come about from a token, from 1922! Not last week. This is history! Every group or movement in history has people that dislike how they handled their cause. Destroying it doesn't change today or opinions of the past. None of us were there, we know it was the wrong way to deal with a cause, I have no real feelings toward these objects or the people that collect or hold them. It was 1922, I wasn't even there, maybe some of you other guys were?

Sorry off topic....These kind of things don't make sense to me for some reason. Were still brewing hatred over Hatred, that was in the past? How is one better than the other? We learn and move on! If anyone holds or talks about this kind of stuff they are shamed. I would own it along with any other item from history! Without any real feeling about it! Just the curiosity of what was going on at that time.

Anyhow, that wasn't really directed towards you, just the topic in general. I respect your opinion and you are welcome to buy and destroy all you want! I wouldn't care about that either!:laughing7: Now if it was Gold? I'd for sure send that thing to melt! Along with anything else Gold! :laughing7:

The KKK stood for terror, hate and murder. It's not hatred of the token. It's hatred of the small-minded hate that follows with the group the token represents. I feel items like it should be destroyed, not forgotten. Destroyed because there are many who would venerate it's past and the hate it represents. We should never forget what atrocities Hitler created, but neither should be allow people to worship mementos of that hate.

I guess it's the chicken or the Egg debate then. Whether the item promotes hate, or the haters promoted the Items. :dontknow:

I won't derail anymore. I guess I just don't have the feelings towards objects like other people do.Not really saying one is good over the other. I just like to talk about it to try to understand why I could care less or have no feeling when I do see an Item like posted. Then these threads end up into "Feeling" threads over History or value. I'd collect and have had items in the past. Destroying them is censorship in a way. It doesn't get to the root of the problem or teach us anything. The Item is just an Item. Destroying them could and will increase the value and sometimes demand of an item that some of you hate. So, destroy away! I'll continue to look for the items and let you guys make them more valuable! :laughing7: I would also collect and books that were outlawed in different places in history. I guess I just get interested in that kind of stuff. And the Human Behavior side of it.

I guess ,I think it's a cool token and am interested in the human behavior/actions, promotions of, or what ever you want to call it, side of these things in history and even today. The Idea still exists in many forms and subjects today. Just on a more psychological level of manipulation instead of brute force? Maybe?

Wow...Jason, your wrong on so many levels!
First of all we can all agree the KKK was wrong; however if we destroy all these types of artifacts how can we and future generations remember these times and events of history? From a text book? A text book by which is written to either impune or indoctrinate. Just open up a kids text book these days and the proof will slap you in the face...
There are people (sometimes a lot of people) who dispute we ever landed on the moon, dispute what Germany did, Claim that 9/11 was a government conspiracy, believe ufo's are real with anal probings being a twice a day event! I could go on and on with examples. Point is without the artifacts where's the proof? You should be ashamed of yourself for wanting to go down that path, I'm willing to bet there's more than a few black people who don't want that history in effect erased.
And onto my most important point...this is the United States! If I or others want to own these artifacts we have every right to own them. I certainly don't want my government (who are supposed to follow the will of the people and most importantly bound by the constitution) to tell me what I can and can't own.

By the way, does the op want to sell it? I may be interested for my OWN private collection...
Pm me if interested...

Based on that same logic pretty much all religious items (especially Christian) should be destroyed, thankfully the 1st Amendment protects us from such a theocracy.

I do not believe in destroying any history, those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.... It is an artifact just like anything else, I wouldn't destroy it any more than I would destroy a Nazi medal, or a slave tag....

I was fixing to say just that. I have a handful of Nazi coins and I assure you that no one could convince me to destroy them. This does not mean that I agree with, nor in any manor support, anything that the Nazis stood for.

It's a historical artifact, nothing more nothing less, an inanimate object with no power. I believe we can all agree that the KKK is a racially biased hate group and always has been. Atrocities have been committed upon virtually every race or class of people on this planet at some time or another in history.

Some just feel the need to condemn and dictate...

Yes, we should destroy everything we disagree with.

Boy ain't that going to be a lot of destruction going on!

Oh, wait...that's just like what happens in some cities when certain groups of people don't like a particular court ruling, foot ball game out come, ect...
Marvelous idea! Your onto something Jason!
