I believe the initials are E.G.S. I originally thought the initials were the cadets initials, but you may be correct the initials represent the school. The two examples of the ones you gave a link to have the initials of the school on the badge then attached is a separate piece with the cadets initials. :dontknow:
 

Realman I think your correct. I will have to try and find out what High School was around in 1888 that begins with an E. :dontknow:

LOL, I dont expect to ever find one. That is why when I even find anything nostalgic I am pumped. It is always such a surprise as you dont know what is under the turf.
