Hello all! I got out with a few friends today & we hit some apartments from the 1940s that will be torn down soon. I was hoping to find a little silver. I never expected to find a flying eagle cent (my 2nd)! It was laying right on top of the ground! I thought it was a modern penny but when I swung over it rang up as 60, def not a modern penny. I took a closer look & saw the date. You never know! I also picked up a few memorials right on top. I finished the day with a 56 Roosevelt, a Mexico 925 ring, 3 wheats & a neat 58 Caribbean Elizabeth II 1 cent. Thanks for looking & HH!

You figure some kid borrowed it from Dad's coin collection and dropped it there? Either way, good eye spotting it and saving it.
I don't think so, it's in rough shape, typical of dug ones. My buddy said there was a farm there before the apartments. The tree I found it by definitely predates the apartments.

It's amazing how the earth works the metal down and then sometimes spits back out before sucking back down again. I did the same thing with a large cent a few weeks back. Detector went off and i looked down and there it was sitting right on top. Really nice find, man!

it really is amazing. I've found relics that are 200 years old a foot deep & on the surface. The ground is always changing.
